Fictitious love: Review of the movie Don't Worry Darling [ESP-ENG]

After three days of the movie "Don't Worry Darling" being available on HBO Max, I managed to watch it and I was thrilled, as I am almost always late for new releases. This time, I was totally satisfied with this film, even though I had somewhat negative expectations and the fear of being disappointed by the reviews it has received since its release. So, what were my reasons for watching this film? The reason is that I am intrigued by topics related to the superstitious and the unknown, for example, recently came out the news of some scientists saying "the universe is a hologram". So, I tried to relate various theories to try to connect with the movie and enjoy the details.
It sounds scary when it turns out that what is real is not real; that the experience we are living in this world is like being in a video game, but clearly in a great magnitude or like when we are sleeping, and in the dream we experience a nightmare that has only been real until we wake up. This is basically what the film is about, which also has a lot of relation to the episode "USS Callister" which is in the Black Mirror series and to the movie The Truman Show. So "Don't Worry Darling" has a very creative and brilliant idea to relate these themes with a love story, in which as a viewer we are provoked to discover and find an explanation to what is happening to the protagonist who seems to be in a perfect world but full of deception. As you can imagine, the genre to which the film belongs is psychological thriller and suspense.
Luego de tres días que la película “Don't Worry Darling” estuviera disponible en la pantalla de HBO Max, logré verla y eso me emocionó, ya que casi siempre llego tarde a los nuevos lanzamientos. Esta vez, quedé totalmente satisfecha con este film, y eso que tenía expectativas un tanto negativas y el miedo a decepcionarme por las críticas que ha recibido a partir de su lanzamiento. Entonces, ¿Cuáles fueron los motivos que tuve para ver esta película? La razón es que me intrigan los temas relacionados con lo supersticioso y lo desconocido, por ejemplo, hace poco salió la noticia de algunos científicos diciendo “el universo es un holograma”. Así que, trate de relacionar varias teorías para intentar conectarme con la película e ir disfrutando de los detalles.
Suena aterrador cuando resulta que lo real no es real; que la experiencia que estamos viviendo en este mundo es como estar en un videojuego, pero claramente en una gran magnitud o como cuando estamos durmiendo, y en el sueño experimentamos una pesadilla que solo ha sido real hasta que despertamos. De esto básicamente trata la película, que además tiene mucha relación con el episodio “USS Callister” que está en la serie Black Mirror y con la película The Truman Show. Entonces “Don't Worry Darling o en español No te preocupes cariño”, tiene una idea bastante creativa y brillante al relacionar estos temas con una historia de amor, en la que como espectador nos provoca descubrir y encontrar explicación a lo que le está sucediendo al protagonista que parece estar en un mundo perfecto pero lleno de engaños. Como podrán imaginarlo, el género al que pertenece la película es thriller psicológico y suspenso.
The film is based on the story of a young couple that is part of a revolutionary project called "Victoria", who live in a world where beauty, order and happiness can be appreciated, where men go out to work every morning, while wives stay at home doing housework, practicing ballet, having meetings with friends, everything is wonderful and apparently the inhabitants have no worries about food, work or money, so you could say that it is a safe place. However, the main characters Alice and Jack begin to have communication problems, making Alice start to question why she is in that place and consequently she plunges into a totally painful and sinister reality.
La película se basa en la historia de una joven pareja que forma parte de un proyecto revolucionario llamado “Victoria”, que viven en un mundo donde se puede apreciar la belleza, el orden y la felicidad, en la que, los hombres salen a trabajar todas las mañanas, mientras que las esposas se quedan en casas haciendo las tareas del hogar, practicando ballet, teniendo reuniones con amigas, todo es maravilloso y al parecer los habitantes no tienen preocupaciones por comida, trabajo o dinero, así que se podrían decir que es un lugar seguro. Sin embargo, los protagonistas Alice y Jack empiezan a tener problemas de comunicación, haciendo que Alice empiece a cuestionarse porque está en ese lugar y por consiguiente se sumerge a una realidad totalmente dolorosa y siniestra.
So begins the plot that is somewhat slow and absurd, but visually appealing, it takes its time to entertain us, even in the first minutes it starts to show us several scenes of sexual acts that are there to generate perhaps morbidity as soap operas do, which is fine, it is something that is part of the industry. Anyway, the whole time it kept me trapped, and with the idea of discovering what the people who had control of the "Victoria" project were hiding, asking why some of the actors' behaviors are assimilated to those of a robot? Something similar to what happens in the real world, we tend to work, eat and sleep as if we had a program impregnated in our minds. Does doing this really give a true meaning to our existence?
Así empieza la trama que es un tanto lenta y absurda, pero atractiva visualmente, se toma su tiempo para entretenernos, incluso en los primeros minutos empieza a mostrarnos varias escenas de actos sexuales que están ahí para generar quizás morbo como lo hacen las telenovelas, lo cual está bien, es algo que es parte de la industria. De todas maneras, todo el tiempo me mantuvo atrapado, y con la idea de descubrir qué es lo que escondían las personas que tenían el control del proyecto “Victoria”, preguntando ¿Por qué algunos comportamientos de los actores se asimilan a los de un robot? Algo parecido a lo que sucede en el mundo real, solemos trabajar, comer y dormir como si tuviéramos un programa impregnado en la mente. ¿Realmente hacer esto, le da un sentido verdadero a nuestra existencia?
As part of the plot, I was struck by the performance of a person, who from one moment to the next realizes the details and some errors that the Victoria project has. Then he wants to know what is behind that rosy world, a person who, by questioning, is someone called paranoid who has mental problems and it is not convenient for those people to have them in that world. Why does it happen?
Como parte de la trama, me llamó la atención la actuación de una persona, que de un momento a otro se da cuenta de los detalles y de algunos errores que tiene el proyecto Victoria. Entonces quiere saber qué hay detrás de ese mundo color de rosa, una persona que, por cuestionar, es alguien denominado como paranoico que tiene problemas mentales y a esas personas ya no les conviene tenerlas en ese mundo. ¿Por qué será qué ocurre?
In my opinion, this film is worth seeing, perhaps it has technical errors that in my little experience in cinema does not allow me to identify, however, it has an idea that catches and a message to find, many people have focused on the secondary ideas, such as the level of machismo that was shown in some scenes, submissive women dedicated to the home and husband care, which for me this became a second part, since the film is set in the era of the 50s, where these facts were commonplace. Also, I think it is not a movie for everyone, because many people are captivated by the sharp and shocking twists and turns, that is, that it has action. For this reason this film does not have much to offer in this area, its concept is more romantic and dramatic.
En mi opinión, vale la pena ver, esta película, quizás tenga errores técnicos que en mí poca experiencia en el cine no me permite identificar, no obstante, tiene una idea que atrapa y un mensaje que encontrar, muchas de las personas se han enfocado en las ideas secundarias, como el nivel de machismo que se mostró en algunas escenas, mujeres sumisas dedicadas al hogar y al cuidado del marido, lo cual para mí esto pasó a ser una segunda parte, ya que la película está ambientada en la época de los años 50, donde estos hechos fueron algo común. Así también, pienso que no es una película para todos, por el hecho de que a muchas personas les cautiva los giros bruscos y estremecedores, es decir, que tenga acción. Por tal razón esta película no tiene mucho que ofrecer en este ámbito, su concepto es más romántico y dramático.
In conclusion, I liked most of the elements that make up the film such as: music, costumes, makeup, choreography and even the main cast, unfortunately I would not watch it again, since the message I wanted to convey was understood. Some parts are very simple, there are no feelings or emotions that allow the viewer to experience; only the curiosity of discovering the truth of a character who feels trapped in a world that does not fit. I would dare to say that, for being a novelty in the themes of simulated universes and holograms in cinema, it has points in its favor and therefore I would recommend it to someone who likes these themes, questioning reality and wondering what is real and what is not, observing the great progress that technology has had lately. For all of the above, my score for this film is a 7.5.
En conclusión, me agradó en su mayoría los elementos que componen la película como: música, vestuario, maquillaje, coreografías y hasta el elenco principal, lamentablemente no la volvería a ver, puesto que el mensaje que buscaba transmitir quedó comprendido. Algunas partes son muy simples, no hay sentimientos ni emociones que le permita experimentar al espectador; solo la curiosidad de ir descubriendo la verdad de un personaje que se siente atrapado en un mundo que no encaja. Me atrevería decir que, por ser novedoso en los temas de universos simulados y hologramas en el cine, tiene puntos a su favor y por eso lo recomendaría a alguien que le gusten estas temáticas, cuestionarse la realidad y preguntarse ¿Qué es real y que no?, observar el gran avance que ha tenido la tecnología últimamente. Por todo lo mencionado, mi puntuación para esta película es un 7,5.
I have a lot of things to write about this movie, but I should make a post to state my opinion. I liked it in its initial concept, but I don't agree with the final message of the story. When I make my post if I finish it, I only have a sketch with annotations of my ideas, I will expose what I consider destroys what could have been an excellent science fiction story.

Es lo que también pienso, que intentan ponernos cosas para ver la vida desde otro punto de vista, por ejemplo algunas series incluso son terapéuticas, se aprende. No puede ser posible que en toda esta industria del cine que se invierten millones, sea únicamente por puro entretenimiento. Me gusta darle sentido a lo que parece absurdo. Bien interesante la manera en que narras la historia, veo que te intereso, aunque estuve comentando con mi hija y me dijo como tú bien lo expresas que la película recibió bastante críticas y según no es muy atractiva. Pero cada quien tiene su opinión es mejor ver porque quizás nos interese a diferencia de otros. Cada quien tiene su propia visión.

En la parte de generar emociones al espectador me pareció que fue simple y el giro final paso tan rápido que a muchas personas les pareció aburrida, yo me enfoque en la historia de un humano atrapado en un mundo con engaños. Gracias a ti por leer y darme tu opinión. Un abrazo.🤗
Me gusta tu visión honesta del film y la forma en que expresas tu opinión. Ciertamente el tema de la realidad o de las construcciones mentales que asumimos como realidad (no importa si las creamos nosotros mismos o alguien más) es super interesante porque si creemos que algo es de cierta manera y lo percibimos de esa forma, ¿cómo es posible que sea diferente? En ese sentido es un buen film y trata temas semejantes a los shows que mencionaste (y a la serie de Nerflix 1899).
Además, la película tiene muy buenas actuaciones y la parte visual, estética, los colores, la onda vintage, está muy bien realizada.

Es la razón por la que vi este film, cuestionarse la existencia propia por unos minutos.
Por cierto, aún no me la termino ver la serie 1899, pero recibí un spoiler que va justamente de estar en una simulación. Realmente disfrutó estos temas y estuve esperando 1899 cuando supe de su lanzamiento después de ver Dark.
