A Mooch Around A Disused Railway, Derbyshire

We went to Seymour Junction at Poolsbrook, Derbyshire to look around an old disused railway line which was surrounded by collieries (before they all closed down).

There was a few remnants of where the old railway line used to be. We saw lots of old concrete sleepers just in a heap.

According to Grace's Guide.co.uk, which is a mine of information with regard to historical information on industry and manufacturing in Great Britain, 'Dow Mac' are makers of concrete building components.

This is the remains of an old signal post.

We came across small bridges but the graffiti wasn't up to much.

These are rail clips that are used to fasten the steel rail to the railway sleeper. When I go magnet fishing I find a lot of these clips in the canal.

These are the plastic parts that sit under the rail clips.

It was a nice little mooch. Unfortunately, we failed to find the old air raid shelter that is hiding down there, so we will be returning at some point.
