Epistilbite Mineral

Hey dear Hive community, first of all I would like to wish you a pleasant day and hope you have a great weekend! Here I would like to bring you a new mineral a little closer and hope you can expand your knowledge a little.

Epistilbite can be seen here, which belongs to the mineral class of silicates and germanates and to the group of zeolites. The mineral was first described in 1826 by Gustav Rose (1798 - 1873), who refered to the Greek word epi for near stilbit and probably refers to the similarity with the mineral Stilbite. Most of the time, the crystals of epistilbit are colorless or white and have a glass-like appearance and almost always tend to crystal twinning. It is usually found as a secondary mineral in mining areas in which other zeolites can be found and it is a rather rare mineral.

Epistilbite is usually always associated with volcanic activities and the best specimens have been found in Iceland and other well-known places of discovery are Japan, Africa, USA, Switzerland and Italy. Other types of zeolites can be interesting from an industrial point of view, while Epistilbite is rather uninteresting due to its rarity and is usually used in collector's circles or as a healing stone. As a healing stone, it can be particularly interesting against inflammatory diseases and generally accelerate the healing process and strengthen the immune system. It can also help to create a protective shield that can help against external influences, but as always it is important to know that it is alternative medicine and you should always ask your doctor about the right medicine!
