Aventurine Mineral

Hey dear Hive community, as always I hope you are all doing well and have a great start to the new week! In my new post I would like to present a mineral and hope you like it and you can learn something new.

The mineral that can be seen here is a variety of quartz and is called Aventurine. Aventurine belongs to the mineral class of oxides and the name comes from the Italian and derives from a ventura, which means by chance. It can arise from magmatic rocks or weathering and the mineral is available in all kinds of colors such as red, blue, green, white or yellow and can be found in many places around the world.

Best-known mining areas include South America, Africa, India, Austria and Russia. The appearance is glittering with shiny particles and it can be confused by appearance with malachite and has a medium hardness. In ancient cultures it was already used for the production of various tools and it is also very interesting as a gemstone and it is also used for the production of different works of art as well as decorative objects.

Symbolically, the mineral is associated with the zodiac signs Cancer, Taurus and Sagittarius and the ancient Greeks already associated Aventurine with optimism. Often it is also seen as a protection symbol and associated with happiness and openness. From a spiritual point of view, it can help to improve well-being and perseverance and it is also often used as a healing stone. Here it is important to know that it is alternative medicine and you should always ask your doctor about the right medicine!

In ancient cultures, the mineral was also often associated with higher things or the divine and thought to contact higher powers with it. The above-mentioned symbolism as a protection symbol is probably associated with the fact that the mineral was given to warriors as a protective stone during the war to support them in the fight. Aventurine can also be found in ancient Rome and Chinese Mythology and is associated with the goddess Kuan-Yin. In Greek mythology, Aventurine is associated with the goddess Dione, who is known as the mother of Aphrodite.

I would love to see this mineral in other colours. Do you have any plan to capture those?

Unfortunately, I only have aventurine in this color. If I should get it in a different color, I will remember to share pictures of it :)
