REFLECTIONS ON VIBES WEB3 MUSIC COMPETITION

Reflections on Vibes web3 Music Competition: The Journey, Challenges, and Improvements
Vibes web3 music competition offers an excellent platform for musicians to showcase their skills, gain recognition, and challenge themselves against peers.
The new update from the week30 where the top 15 best entries were selected from a large pool of contestants, but only six could emerge as winners is quite amazing but also a thug of war😅..
This journey was filled with excitement, nervous anticipation, and valuable lessons that have shaped my musical growth. While the competition well-organized has also provided a fantastic experience, there are several areas where improvements could make future editions even better.
This Competition Experience
From the moment I entered the competition, I knew it would be a rigorous challenge. The selection process was tough and even tougher now lol (from top10 to top15) with musicians from various backgrounds competing for limited spots. Each contestant brought their unique style, skill, making it a thrilling yet daunting , with judges @verbal-d and @silentscreamer scrutinizing every detail of our performances/entries.
I spend countless hours practicing, refining every note on my saxophone to ensure clarity and emotional impact since the competition grew fiercer, and the pressure intensified. The top 15 musicians were announced, marking a significant achievement for all of them. However, the real challenge lay ahead is that only six entries would claim victory from the top 15 being selected...
I always try to deliver my best performance/entry, pouring every ounce of passion and expertise into my piece..
Strengths of the Competition
One of the most commendable aspects of this competition is the high level of professionalism in its organization.
The judges are highly experienced professionals who provides constructive feedback, allowing participants to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Their insights are often invaluable, offering guidance on areas that needed refinement.
This competition also fostered a sense of camaraderie among musicians..
Areas for Improvement
Despite its many strengths, there are ways this competition could be enhanced to provide an even better experience for future participants.
More Inclusive Recognition
While selecting the top 15 and then narrowing it down to six winners ensures a high standard, it leaves several talented musicians without acknowledgment. Introducing additional categories, such as "Best Interpretation," "Most Expressive Performer," would ensure that more participants receive recognition for their efforts. This would motivate competitors and highlight diverse talents, that's just my thoughts though...
Expanded Feedback Sessions
While judges provided brief comments after seeing our entries, more detailed feedback sessions would be beneficial. A dedicated session where participants could ask questions and receive in-depth analysis of their strengths and weaknesses would significantly enhance learning opportunities. Written feedback or video recordings with annotations could also help most musicians track their progress..
Also, mentorship programs could extend beyond the competition, providing guidance in career development, practice strategies, and performance techniques. This would help young musicians build a strong foundation and gain insights from experienced professionals.
Since only six winners are officially recognized, many talented musicians leave the competition without further performance opportunities. Creating additional showcase events for the top 15 finalists would provide them with more exposure and confidence. These could be live-streamed or recorded, preferably on the X-live stream when announcing the top6 winners, allowing other participants to share their thoughts from the concluded week(s)
A well-maintained website and social media person to be part of
More Diverse Repertoire Selection
Encouraging participants to explore a broader range of musical styles would add variety and richness to this competition. While technical excellence is crucial, allowing more flexibility in repertoire choice could showcase individual creativity. Special themes or genre-specific rounds could further diversify the performances, whereby introducing weeks like; jazz week, R&B week, pop style 😎, and other genres of music...
Fairer Scoring Transparency
Although the judging was professional, more transparency in scoring criteria could help participants understand their results better. Providing a detailed breakdown of scores in areas like technique, expression would give musicians clearer insights into where they excelled and where they could improve...
Conclusion
Participating in this music competition is always an unforgettable experience that pushes me to refine my artistry and embrace new challenges.
Music competitions are not just about winning; they are about growth, perseverance, and passion. Whether one finishes among the top six or not, the journey itself is a valuable learning experience. With continuous refinements, this competition has the potential to become an even more enriching platform for musicians to develop, connect, and thrive in their musical careers....
I wish everyone the best in the week31 and of course I can't wait to see the amazing 20's song from everyone including myself 😉...
