Die Studie vergleicht den aktuellen Abwärtstrend des Marktes mit dem Dot-Com-Absturz in den frühen 2000ern.

A16z gibt an, dass der Kryptomarkt von einem Zyklus angetrieben wird, in dem hohe Preise für digitale Assets Talente in die Branche locken. Entwickler werden während des Abschwungs innovativ und die daraus entstehenden Projekte und Start-ups sorgen für Optimismus, sobald der Winter vorüber ist.

Dem Bericht zufolge hat die globale Marktkapitalisierung, sowie die Aktivität der Entwickler, der Start-ups und der krypto-bezogenen sozialen Medien nach Jahren des Auf und Abs im Jahr 2018 wieder stark zugenommen.

Web3 hat eine viel niedrigere “Take Rate” als die derzeitigen Tech- und Social-Media-Giganten. Laut dem Bericht hat der größte Marktplatz für Non-Fungible Token (NFTs) OpenSea eine Quote von 2,5 %. Der App Store von Apple hingegen hat eine Quote von bis zu 30 %, YouTube 45 % und Facebook, Instagram und Twitter erreichen rund 100 %.

2021 haben rund 22.000 digitale Krypto Künstler fast 4 Milliarden US-Dollar eingenommen. Dahingegen haben 11 Millionen Creator auf Spotify nur 7 Milliarden US-Dollar verdient.
