Hey lovelies โค๏ธ
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese ๐Ÿ˜
Welcome to my blog ๐Ÿค—

Akara is a popular Nigerian snack that is made from brown beans or any type of beans mostly eaten as breakfast. It can also be eaten anytime of the day as well. It is best served with pap, oat, custard, agidi and even bread. Akara is mostly fried with vegetable oil but some people prefer theirs with palm oil.

This snack is a popular street food in Nigeria. It is mostly prepared in the early hours of the morning and in the evening. It is prepared alongside other fried foods like fried yam, fried potato etc. If you need to eat to work and you don't have enough time to prepare breakfast, you can locate the nearest akara spot or if you close from work and you're very tired, you can locate a nice spot to buy some akara.

Ingredients for preparing akara

  • Brown beans
  • Scotch bonnet
  • Onions
  • Seasoning cubes
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil

  • Let the oil heat up but it must not be too hot to avoid the akara from getting fried only on the outside

  • You can be sure of the heat by dropping just a little of the mixture first into the frying pan. If it gets brown quickly, it's too hot, but if it's still a bit white, then the temperature is fine. IMG_20220402_083320_258.jpg
  • Scoop the blended beans into the hot oil and fry until its brown.
  • Your akara is ready.
