Ukraine, The Kyiv Independent: the atrocities of the International Legion fighters
The tensions of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine do not subside. This time, the protagonist is the investigation carried out by the most important newspaper in the capital of the invaded country: The Kyiv Independent. For days, the newspaper has been trying to shed light on an alleged abuse of power by a wing of the International Legion, made up entirely of foreign fighters from an anti-Russian perspective, sponsored by President Zelensky and Minister Kuleba. And that it would be pointed to abuse, theft, suicide missions, as well as sexual harassment, especially by the leadership of the military group.
In the piece, the Ukrainian newspaper reports numerous testimonies, including one of a Brazilian officer, who arrived in the invaded territory precisely to support the Ukrainian cause, but who allegedly claimed to his subordinates that he was indignant of the actions carried out by the highest officers of the army:
We have come to help the people of this country. We didn't come here to do the same things as Russian assholes!
The accusations are part of a 78-page dossier, already presented in Parliament, but which has not yet received neither answers nor concrete actions, from the Zelensky government, which seems to be masking the whole affair. The Kyiv Independent states that numerous letters have already been sent to the government cabinet, and this for four months, but a response continues to be expected. The allegations concern the wing of the Legion controlled by the GUR, the Ukrainian military intelligence service.
Over its nearly 80 pages, the Ukrainian newspaper also reports the story of Piotr Kapuscinski, known in the legionary world as Sasha Kuchynsky. The soldier is already wanted for fraud, in Poland since 2014, while he has resided in Ukraine since 2016. In recent years, he has been the negative protagonist of episodes of sexual violence and aggravated theft, at gunpoint. Since last May, he has been at the front to fight the Russian armed forces.
Kuchynsky acts above all in the areas of Severodonetsk, the central hub of the fighting between the Ukrainians and the invader, in the Luhansk region. Sasha would also have been the instigator of numerous suicide attacks, then launched by young resistance soldiers, who would be enlisted as pure slaughter fodder, leading to sacrifice his own life, on the orders of the Polish convict. In one of these suicide missions Andrew Hill, the soldier who is now undergoing a trial in Donetsk and who faces the death penalty as a mercenary, was captured.
Moreover, the subject would also be the instigator of looting, carried out by the Ukrainian forces, directly to the commercial centers of their cities.
