Another conflict: Tajikistan attacks Kyrgyzstan
After the tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, two other former Soviet republics come to the clash. In the past few hours, the Tajik side fired mortar rounds against the village of Pasky-Aryk in the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. This was announced by the border service of Kyrgyzstan. In violation of the agreements previously reached, starting at 08:50 (05:50 Moscow time) until 08:55, the armed forces of Tajikistan fired mortar rounds at the Pasky-Aryk settlement in the Batken region. At 08:55, the bombing was stopped.
The situation on the border between the two states worsened on 14th September. According to the Kyrgyz side, the Tajik border guards entered the border area in the Bulak-Bashy area of the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and took up fighting positions. In response to the request to leave the territory, the border guards of Tajikistan opened fire, after which a shooting ensued. In the clashes that took place between the opposing factions there were 24 deaths.
Kyrgyz Ministry of Health reported in a statement:
24 bodies were taken to health facilities in the Batken.
A few hours later, armed clashes also occurred in the Kak-Sai and Pasky-Aryk areas, again in the Batken region. According to the latest data, the Kyrgyz side also reported 87 injured residents in the republic. Kyrgyz authorities evacuated some 136,000 citizens to safe places. From Samarkand where they were both for a summit where Russian President Vladimir Putin is also present, Kyrgyz presidents Sadyr Japarov and Tajik Emomali Rahmon ordered their respective troops a few hours ago to withdraw from the line of contact along the border after the ceasefire reached today.
