Picnic Lakeside

IMG_20230901_130452_Original.jpeg

After walking around this lovely lake, Elbow lake that is, I was beginning to experience some hunger pangs. Usually when I go hiking, my preference is to have an empty stomach, and snack as I go along as needed. The worst thing for me personally, is feeling “heavy” when out on the trail. Some like to have a big breakfast before going out, me just the opposite. Light and nimble is best for me. My snack of choice is usually mixed nuts and a clif bar. Ok, time for a lakeside picnic. On the menu today are soft boiled eggs and some refreshing bottled water, and maybe some of them nuts. Dessert? Not today, the theme is light and nimble, not big and bloated. After about fifteen minutes or so, it was time to start looking for the trailhead to Rae Glacier. Let’s go.

Paradise. I can view these shots all day lone. As for the food, I go empty always, then eat after but I always drink a lot of water or should I say enough water.

Usually when I go hiking, I always prefers to eat heavy because I don't want to bring food with me along the way. But that preference changes from time to time. Great photos by the way! The black and white are so dreamyyyy! ❤️

Picnic sounds awesome.. it's just the lugging it around on the hike, which sounds hard. But if it takes up little space, then that sounds like a winner. I reckon for me, it would be a nice soft roll with some goodies on.. ok, maybe two. And something awesome to drink.. like cold, refreshing and full of electrolytes :)

When you toss it in a backpack, it is not that noticeable. I really should explore the idea of bringing an electrolyte rich drink along, besides the water.

Not sure by you.. but down this side of the world in South Africa, you can get a concentrate which tastes pretty awesome and you just mix it with water.. it's really dope.

Interesting. What do they call it?

There's a couple different brands which I've tried.. 'powerade' and 'energade'. It's a 'syrup' I guess one could say, and then you just mix it as if making regular squash. It doesn't leave you feeling dehydrated, and obviously full of electrolytes.

Your lakeside picnic sounds delightful and the setting at Elbow Lake looks serene! I also prefer feeling light and nimble during hikes, it indeed makes the journey more enjoyable.

Oh my, what a landscape to take a break and eat something!... You couldn't be luckier!!!...

I loved seeing this photo like this in black and white. There is an overwhelming diversity of elements and lights in this... It is a "monochromatic glimpse into the universe of the lake"... BRAVO!
