How fast can you run?πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

My strength training has been going well. Now I want to layer more running back in.

I keep kind of forgetting or, more accurately perhaps, not prioritising it. Brad, the Mister, the perpetual runner reminds me, regularly. Bless him. 😊

As some of you know, I aim to do all my training with my menstrual cycle in mind. At different phases of our (a bleeding woman's) cycle, we are well equipped to do particular kinds of training (and poorly suited to do others).

I'm currently in the Follicular Phase so now is a good time to be speedy!! ⏩⏩⏩

So this morning after water, sunrise, barefoot grounding, breakfast and a toilet stop I finally got out and did some speed work.

I can run fast, yo! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Not a long way πŸ˜‚ but probably faster than almost every other Australian woman in her forties and beyond. πŸ™Œ

Below are the screenshots for those who are curious.

I did a slow jog to warm up. I walked very slowly before and after each sprint lap. And my sprint legs were about 100-140 metres or so on gravel fire trail. After a very slow walk up the hill to recover I cruised slowly back home to finish off the 3km total. πŸƒ

I left my watch running the whole time.

Four sprints.

100-140 metres each.

Top end speed: 2:50 mins/km.

Amazing. And I'm sure I can hit faster than that with a bit more practise and a more diligent warm up.

Meanwhile, heart rate tells a bit of a story, hey? I think I worked hard enough today. πŸ₯±πŸ˜œπŸ˜Ž

And was happy with this cadence. The bit I was looking at was the steps per minute (spm) for the warm up jog there and the cool down jog home. They were both somewhere around the 175-180 mark. Perfect πŸ‘

Running fast: I still surprise myself.

You have been practicing a lot. So no wonder there that you'd be so fast. And wooo! You don't look your age at all. I bet it's the good exercise and peace of mind? Running isn't my forte ...but I like to jog. 😁😁

That's a really depressing question for me. In elementary school we had those timed tests, "run 60 meters" "run 100 meters" and I always came last. Not because I was exceptionally bad at running, but because they took place in pollen season. Early spring and late autumn were the only times I could breathe freely, and if I may brag a bit... I usually came in top 3 on long distance running during those short periods when I could run, because I knew how to pace myself. Let the sprinter boys and girls run ahead and exhaust themselves during the first kilometer, keep running past more and more of them on the 2km path through the forest, then smirk at them while slowly jogging, never walking, all the way up the steep hill, and feel my legs do their own thing, even braking a bit, on the downhill before the final kilometer back to the school.

Thinking back on it, I enjoyed running. It was soothing. A time when I could let my mind quiet down, not worry about life, the universe, and everything. But I was quite a chubby kid - makes sense since most of the time I couldn't exercise - and every time I wanted to do something like running, swimming, taking a long walk, or even said no to a snack, there were people sniggering "Going on a diet? Trying to get slim? Too late for that!" so I gave it up to avoid the teasing. :/

It's never too late to start over though, is it? Maybe this week I'll take a step or two outdoors, and next year I'll be able to run all the way to... well, somewhere? But what I really want is for my hubby to help me get my bicycle in order. Or at least get it out from behind the sofa and bathtub in the storage room so I can try to fix it myself. πŸ› οΈπŸš²

I know too little about what's good cadence, km/h, or heart rates and stuff that apps measure, but I gather that your numbers are good. So what can I say but Be proud of yourself, lady, your are doing great things!
