Walk Around Yi-Zhong Shopping District at Night

Most people have probably heard of the Fengjia Night Market in Taichung, as it used to be known as the largest night market in Taiwan. However, for the people of Taichung, the Yi-Zhong Night Market is actually a more frequent destination. This is because Fengjia Night Market attracts a lot of tourists, resulting in higher prices. Therefore, locals prefer to go to Yi-Zhong Night Market, although there are many other night markets to choose from.

The formation of the Yi-Zhong Shopping District can be attributed to the presence of several schools in the surrounding area, such as Taichung First Senior High School, National Taiwan College of Physical Education, and Taichung Institute of Technology. This quickly led to the rise of the largest student business district in Taichung. During the day, it operates as a regular shopping district, but in the evening, it transforms into a bustling night market. Where there are many students, there will be a thriving business, offering unique and affordable items.

This weekend, I suddenly felt like going to the Yi-Zhong Shopping District for a stroll. It's been a while since I last visited, but as I arrived in the evening, it was just as I remembered. Waves of people flocked to the Yi-Zhong Night Market. It's filled with a variety of affordable and distinctive snacks, including fried chicken, braised dishes, barbecues, Taiwanese sausage wrapped in sticky rice, spicy tofu, octopus balls, drinks, and ice treats. I chose a few of my favorite snacks and enjoyed them while walking. It was great, and now we don't have to wear masks anymore, so I can finally enjoy the joy of strolling through the night market.

In addition to the abundance of snacks, Yi-Zhong Night Market is also a place where you can find the latest and trendiest products. Whether it's clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags, or hats for both men and women, this time I didn't have anything specific to buy, so I was just browsing. However, for Taiwanese people, the night market is not just a place to eat and pass the time, but also an important social activity. Who hasn't gone from one end of the night market to the other with friends, competing to see who can eat the most? Every girl has experienced going to the night market with her BFF (Best Friends Forever) to pick out the perfect outfit for a night out. The Yi-Zhong Shopping District or Yi-Zhong Night Market has been famous since I was a child, and I believe it will continue to thrive.
