Rainy day Geocaching adventure

This is my story on A geocache I found A few months ago, think of it A throwback post.

Disclaimer: all photos used in this post are my own unless otherwise stated.

I woke up late in the morning, the rain was pouring and it showed no signs of easing off but it would be my only day off for the entire week. I had to do something other than sit indoors. It then came to my mind that I had to go Geocaching specifically, I had to find this Geocache that is local to me (15-20 minute walk) The cache is located in an open field that is connected to a nice but quite unknown walking trail.

By the time I got ready and set off for my walk the rain had eased and it was not as cold as I had assumed it to be. my hopes of finding this Cache were high, it was rated by the owner as quite tricky but the comments from users who have found it gave me confidence that I could find it for myself.

As I got off the country roads and onto the field my mood instantly changed I felt so relaxed and I really enjoyed being somewhere with no one else around and just hearing nothing with the occasional sound of A distant car or nature itself. Something about walking on trail paths is just so relaxing and it is always good to walk.

I found myself nearing the Cache I got there and saw many overgrown nettles and grass but with my determination I began scanning the grounds and fence with my foot, sweeping across nettles and grass. I did this for A while working my way along the fencing until I saw a little something, something that I would have missed if it wasn't for my shoe making contact with the object.

There is was, Hiding on the bottom of the mesh fencing was A tiny camouflaged container, I reached out to it and began unscrewing I briefly looked around before standing back up and then I opened its contents.

Inside was of course some rolled-up paper and on the paper were lots of signatures and names of the people who had found the Geocache. I signed my name and logged it on my phone before putting it back and moving the nettles back over it to make it as hidden as I had found it.

After finding the cache that was my objective, I had found what I was looking for. Despite the soggy ground and dull skies, I decided to keep walking and I did walk for a while.

There are so many beauty spots on this walk, even in the summer months, not many people walk this route, only the occasional dog walker.

If you are interested in Geocaching, please check it out for yourself, not only is it good to get outdoors and explore Geocaching makes you think and think hard everything is a clue can you solve it? You can find Geocaching HERE

Geocaching for me has helped me get outdoors more and getting outdoors more has tons of benefits but the main ones for me were better mental well-being, a form of exercise, finding a hobby and enjoying it. If you are into your outdoors and enjoy puzzle solving I highly recommend you give Geocaching a look.

On that note, I will wrap up my post for today.

@chris-uk...

Wow! I hope you wore some hip waders or boots! Ok, I am teasing (kind of?)... the water looks deep! Pond? Lake? What about that trail? As I looked at the last two photos, I was reminded of one of my favorite movies The Quiet Man... Nothing to do with Geocaching, but I think it's relevant lol. Alright... let's talk about this post of yours...

I have loved playing video games since I was a kid. But what I loved more than that (like you have said) was being outside! I have to admit... I have never been geocaching, but it does look very interesting. Reminds me of some Mission Impossible stuff going on. But this is a great way to get outside... get some exercise... even meet like-minded people who are into exploring and searching for these caches. Who knows... maybe in the not-too-distant future. You could create some kind of contest... no. Event? I am not sure what to label it as. But maybe get a few folks together who would be willing to share their geocaching journeys. Share how this had a positive and thoughtful effect on their lives. Hmm... Maybe we could get a little #thoughtfuldailypost collab? Let me know what you think...

I loved this post, brother. Thank you for taking the time to share your adventure with us... Look forward to seeing some more of your Geocaching adventures... with a side helping of thoughtfulness even!
