Jueves de TBT: el cumpleaños #52 de mi madre [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I’m stopping by to share some new photos and a story with you all on this TBT Thursday. For this occasion, I’ve selected some photos that are very precious to me because they capture a special moment in our family: one of the last birthdays my sister and my mom were able to celebrate together. And I’m not saying this because either of them is unwell or anything like that, but simply because things have changed and aren’t the same anymore—and due to distance, we can no longer hold those kinds of celebrations with the whole family.
On that day, my mom was celebrating her 52nd birthday, and a week earlier, my sister Claudia’s birthday had also been celebrated. I wasn’t there at the time because I was in Puerto Ordaz and couldn’t attend. It made me laugh when they sent me the photos because all those cakes were gathered on a single table (hahaha), and I wondered how it all happened that so many cakes ended up at the house. My mom made two of them, and the others were gifts from friends or family. I don’t remember exactly which was which, but the fact is they had cake for several days—and that’s saying something, since my mom is the kind of person who usually gives out slices of cake to everyone. It was also a lovely day because they went out for a walk and to eat, and you could tell they’d been looking forward to it.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes nuevas fotografías y una anécdota, en este Jueves de TBT. Para esta ocasión seleccioné algunas imágenes que son para mí muy valiosas pues pertenecen a un momento especial en nuestra familia: uno de los últimos cumpleaños que mi hermana y mi mamá pudieron celebrar juntas. Y no lo digo porque alguna de ellas esté mal o algo por el estilo, pero simplemente las cosas cambiaron y ya no son iguales y por cuestión de distancia ya no se puede realizar ese tipo de celebraciones con todos los miembros de la familia.
Para ese día mi mamá celebraba sus 52 años y una semana atrás, se celebraba también el cumpleaños de mi hermana Claudia. Para esos días yo no estaba porque me encontraba en Puerto Ordaz y no pude asistir. A mí me dió risa cuando me enviaron las fotografías porque estaban todas esas tortas reunidas en una sola mesa (jajaja) y yo me preguntaba como se dió todo para que llegaran tantas tortas a la casa. Dos las hizo mi mamá y las otras, fueron regalos de amigos o familiares. No recuerdo precisamente cuál fue cual, pero lo cierto es que tuvieron pastel para varios días y eso que mi mamá es de quién suele regalar porciones de torta a todos el mundo. También fue un bonito día porque ella salieron a pasear, a comer y se notaba que habían estado esperando ese día.
I know it’s tough, but I hope that someday we’ll be able to celebrate these birthdays as a family again—with the whole family. Tomorrow is my mom’s birthday, so I hope I can live up to everyone’s expectations and make it, above all, a very meaningful day. Visiting Valencia, I realize just how much the city has changed, and well, things aren’t easy at all. We have to celebrate every day, every moment, and be grateful for what we have. Sé que está difícil, pero espero que en algún momento estos cumpleaños se vuelvan a celebrar en familia. Con toda la familia. Mañana mi mamá está de cumpleaños, así que espero poder cumplir con todas las expectativas para que sea un día, sobre todo, muy significativo. Visitando Valencia me doy cuenta de lo mucho que la ciudad a cambiado y bueno, las cosas no están nada fáciles. Hay que celebrar, cada día, cada instante y agradecer lo que tenemos.
