Greetings to everyone in the Music community. Today I’m joining you here to share a new music video with you. This time, I’d like to share one of the songs we sang during the “Choral Gathering: Let’s Sing for the Orfeonistas of ’76.” That was on June 14, 2026, and it was held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Azores tragedy, in which 68 choir members and their conductor, Vinicio Adames of the UCV Choir, lost their lives. They were aboard a Hercules C-130 aircraft on their way to a choral festival in Spain, but (sadly) the plane ended up crashing on the island of the Azores, Portugal, before reaching its destination. So every year, a tribute is held in their honor.
We sang “Caramba,” with lyrics and music by Otilio Gslíndez and arranged by Maestro Alberto Grau. It’s a beautiful song that I love, and it’s quite a challenge because the arrangement is somewhat complex. You have to know the song well for everything to come out perfectly. We sing this song because it tells of grief, the loss of a loved one, and how everything that remains are just dreams when that happens. Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Music. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo video musical. En esta ocasión les quiero compartir lo que fue una de las canciones que cantamos durante el "Encuentro Coral' Cantemos a los Orfeonistas del '76". Eso fue este 14 de Junio del 2026 y se hizo en conmemoración de los 50° aniversario de la tragedia de Los Azores, dónde fallecieron 68 coralistas y su director Vinicio Adames del Orfeón de la UCV, los cuales se encontraban a bordo del avión Hércules C-130 con motivo de acudir a un festival coral en España, pero que (lamentablemente) el avión acabó por estrellarse en la isla de Los Azores, Portugal, antes de llegar a su destino. Así que todos los años se hace un homenaje a ellos.
Cantamos Caramba, letra y música de Otilio Galíndez y con arreglo del maestro Alberto Grau. Es una canción preciosa, que a mí me encanta y que tiene su reto pues el arreglo es algo complejo. Hay que conocer bien la canción para que todo quede perfecto. Cantamos esa canción porque narra un duelo, la perdida del ser amado y todo lo que queda en solo sueños cuando eso sucede.
