Greetings to everyone in the Music community. Today I’m stopping by to share a new music video with you. This time, it’s one of the performances we gave this year with the Canticum Merú women’s choir. It took place at Nazareth School in Puerto Ordaz, and the performance was part of the celebration of Choral Singing Day, observed on July 15, which featured a full week of performances by all the choirs in Ciudad Guayana. At that time, it was still very fresh in everyone’s minds what Venezuela had gone through with the tragedy of the twin earthquakes, which to this day remains a source of pain for Venezuelans—and, well, it’s a sensitive topic. Because of this, a memorial was held for all those who lost their lives in the earthquake.
The songs were meant to convey that. For example, this song you hear us singing here is called “Adiós Maripositas,” with lyrics by Enrique Planchart and music by Vicente Emilio Sojo. That song can have two meanings: one is a farewell that refers to a loss, and from a more optimistic perspective, the simple taking flight of someone who must continue on their path—though it isn’t necessarily a final farewell. We sang it because it was perfect for the commemoration. We had also rehearsed it to sing in memory of the UCV Choir’s tragedy in the Azores, since I remember Professor Conchita mentioning that it was the first song the choir sang when they reestablished themselves after that tragedy and in memory of them. Finally, I hope you enjoy it. The video wasn’t recorded as well as we would have liked, but it’s a decent recording. Hugs.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Music. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo video musical. En esta oportunidad se trata de una de las presentaciones que tuvimos este año en la coral femenina de Canticum Merú. Fue en el Colegio Nazareth en Puerto Ordaz y la presentación fue parte de la celebración del Día del Canto Coral que se celebra el 15 de Julio, en el cual se propuso una semana completa de presentaciones por parte de todos los coros que hay en Ciudad Guayana. Para esa fecha estaba muy reciente lo que Venezuela vivió con la tragedia del doble terremoto, que a día de hoy, todavía sigue siendo motivo de dolor para los venezolanos y bueno, es un tema delicado. Debido a ello, se ofreció una conmemoración a todos aquellos quienes perdieron la vida en el terremoto.
Las canciones tenían esa intención. Por ejemplo, esta canción que nos escuchan cantar aquí se llama "Adiós Maripositas" y la letra es de Enrique Planchart, con música de Vicente Emilio Sojo. Esa canción puede tener dos sentido: el de una despedida que refiere a una perdida y desde un lado más optimista, el simple alzó del vuelo de quién debe seguir su camino, pero no necesariamente es una despedida definitiva. Nosotras la cantamos porque era ideal para la conmemoración. También la habíamos ensayado para cantarla por la tragedia de Los Azores del Orfeón de la UCV, pues recuerdo que la profe Conchita mencionó que fue la primera canción que cantó el Orfeón cuando se establecieron nuevamente tras esa tragedia y en memoria de ellos. Finalmente, espero que la disfruten. El video no fue grabado tan bien cómo fuera querido, pero es un registro decente. Un abrazo.
