Ladies of Hive Community Contest #61 - THREE WISHES
This week's contest Ladies of Hive Community Contest #61 gives us two choices of prompts to write about:
1️⃣ 2022 is on the doorstep! Grant yourself three wishes, let us know why! Maybe it is ideas on changing how we live, clean living challenges, social and cultural shifts, equalizing business to allow all to grow within new technology in creative manner, or something else.
Or
2️⃣ Name three ways you build your online friendships! What do you specifically look for? Similarities in personality, culture, gender, guidance, learning, growth in communications, or something more?
I am choosing Prompt #1 of three wishes to be granted by our own Ladies of Hive genie. She's much prettier than that big blue "man genie" you usually see wafting up out of the magic lamp!
This is a TALL question, there are so many things wrong in today's world that could use a magic solution! I'm going to go with 2 wishes for the greater good of mankind, and I'm going to make the final wish for myself. Selfish I know because 100 wishes couldn't solve all the world's problems!
Wish # 1:
SAVE OUR EARTH!
All the wishes in the world are going to be to no avail if we continue to destroy Mother Earth herself. From pollution to landfills to cutting down our rainforests and everything in between, we are not going to have a livable environment to sustain us. I fear for our future generations and what kind of legacy we are leaving for them.
Wish #2:
NO MORE STARVATION!
There are so many places in the world where people are not getting the basic human right of having food to eat. In a world of so many people who have so much it is unthinkable that there are so many starving. If we were able to lift everyone up to at least basic needs all standards could be raised from there. Keeping so many people in the world in a struggle just for survival is robbing humanity of a whole contingent of people who could be using their will and energy toward bettering themselves and making contributions to society.
Wish #3:
LET ME SEE MY GRANDCHILDREN
Now for my selfish wish. This picture is of my only two grandchildren. This is one of the last pictures I was able to personally take. Taken at my house on one of their frequent weekends spent here. Sadly, my son, their father, got involved with drugs (he's a college grad and veteran from Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq) and he's in prison right now. He hasn't seen his kids in almost 4 years. The kids live 75 miles away but my husband and I have picked them for weekends at our house since they were born. Last year their mother got remarried and had another child. I only mention this because since that time, she has decided that my family has been nothing but "trouble" for her and she has shut off all contact. We are not allowed to see them or even speak on the phone. I shudder to think what she has chosen to tell the kids about why g'man and 'g'pa don't come and get them anymore. They loved coming here and loved us as much as we loved them. So...my third selfish wish is that she would come to her senses and allow us back into Roman and Millie's life!

Last wish is not a selfish wish , it is very natural to love them and your son .
It is very sad and i send you all my love and prayers for your beautiful wishes to happen.

There are so many things to wish for to better this world; I agree with you there! You chose 2 very good ones!
As for your grandchildren; it's really a shame that children become the battlefield when families are split. You have every right to see them, and I am sorry that she has excluded you from visits. It's unfair for certain! I pray that your wish will be granted to you. I'll be praying for you and your husband's restoration of relationship with them. Take care.
@elizabethbit thank you and really appreciate the prayers! She is not thinking of their welfare by keeping them from loving grandparents, especially when they are already missing their father in their life.

Roman and Millie are adorable! It might sound cliché to say but I believe in the miracle of Christmas and the goodness in people. Praying your former daughter in law's pregnancy hormones were the root of her poor judgment and she realizes the mistake she's making keeping the grandkids from seeing you. As some have already said, continue writing letters and make copies of them. If push comes to shove, you have a right to pursue legal actions for visitation rights.
Also praying for your son. Prison is not the place for people with substance abuse issues, especially former military members who suffer from PTSD.

Thank you @ninahaskin for understanding and for your prayers, and for including my son in your prayers as well. When they visited here he was able to call and talk to them. She will not answer the phone when he calls so he has not been able to talk to them either.
Hoping for a better outcome when he is released in a few months.
I don't understand the hatred and how some parents have no conscience when they use their children as pawns against the former spouse after a divorce.
I bet you're counting down the days until your son is released. What month? 🗓

@ninahaskin, thank you for realizing what a bad decision that is for the children's sake, let alone my sadness. I know they don't understand why we are not around any more.
As of now, Ryan's parole date is mid-March 2022 but he earns additional days off for working. So his date is adjusted every quarter when his hours are calculated.

Last wish may it come into being sooner than later grand-children deserve time with grandparents I think what the ex is doing is exceptionally narrow sighted!

I hope every single individual is aware of the protection of the environment as it is deeply linked to the protection of our future. If we don't take care of our environment, then in the future, we may have limited or no access to natural resources that are vital to our survival.
It's sad because many people in this world live with hunger and never know when their next meal will be. I have the same wish as you: no more starvation.
I'm so sorry to hear about their father and I hope the mother will change her mind and allows you to see your lovely grandchildren ❤️❤️

I am so sorry to hear this @blueeyes8960. Roman and Millie have the right to see you, spending time and have fun with you. So sad their mother taken it away. Be strong and I pray for the days you can visit them again.
