Party outfit/Creative design of a 3 steps peplum flare with princess dart bustier for myself
Hello beautiful people
Greetings to you all out there on this beautiful Sunday, I hope you are all doing great, it's Sunday and I wish you all a lovely week ahead as we step into a new week.
It is with great pleasure I bring to you the cutting and sewing process of my 'owanbe' as we popularly call it here party outfit I made for myself and as you can see, how beautiful the outfit is looking on me.
Recently, there was a party to attend but unfortunately, I was not financially buoyant to pay for the fabric as at the time the fabric was being sold, as it is our way of doing things here, for almost every event, there is a particular fabric sold to people depending on how close you are to the celebrant, for this event, I intend to buy the one for the general public as I am not that very close to the celebrant, you know what that means, but I was actually invited to the occasion.
Fortunately enough for me, my friend got his and brought it for me to sew for him as he really liked the outfit I made for him recently, as we were talking, he asked if I have gotten mine but I told him no, with the reason that I wasn't financially boyaunt as I had a lot to pay for when the fabric was sold, we talked at length and he left, the next day, surprisingly, me friend came in with the fabric and told me this is mine, a gift from him to me, I was so happy because I never thought I would be having this fabric at all, I thanked him so much and promised to make his outfit so nice.
The following day, I went to the market to get the necessary materials needed to make this outfit, I have had this style in mind for a very long time and with my set goal for the year, making beautiful church outfit is what I promised myself, I got the things needed and got back home to embark on my sewing process.
Cutting and sewing process
First thing I did was to cut out a straight skirt from the 4yards African print fabric that I was given, using my skirt measurement, I marked out the waist, hip and full length measurement as well as the horizontal measurement with seam allowance.
After cutting and sewing the skirt, I proceeded to the cutting of the 3steps flare by cutting out 720° flare for each step, the first step was cut out with the Ankara fabric, the second step was cut out with matching colour satin material and the last step was cut out with the Ankara fabric, the same was repeated on the lining for turning inside out.
The flare were sewn together with crinoline to make it stand and firm.
With my drafted princess dart bustier pattern, I placed it on my Ankara fabric to cut out the upper bodice.
I cut out the lining for the upper bodice and padded the bust area of the main fabric with warden to make it firm.
The front and back were sewn together with zipper allowance at the back and it was sewn to the 3steps flare with zipper at the back.
Finally, I cut out a basic sleeve with my desired sleeve length and it was sewn to the armhole circumference to make a complete outfit.
The party was fun with different people with different designs of the same fabric, I was so glad to be at the party with my beautiful outfit as well.
I will be sharing the outfit I made for my friend as well very soon, stay connected as I share my beautiful creativity with you.
That’s a really good friend there to surprise you with the fabric.
I like the pattern in the fabric ,the flare is also really nice and making the outfit very elegant.
This is really lovely dear.
One thing I love about traditional outfits is that you can design just anything you want with it and you have done this one beautifully well.
I love your hair tie too.
