Hello everyone

It's so good to be here once again in this beautiful community after awhile, I hope you are all doing great and fine just as I am doing here, for sometimes now, I have been busy with other activities that I didn't have the time to work on my sewing machine, this has really made me to be lazy to make any outfit, I find it difficult to sew any complicated outfit and will take days for me to finish and thank God, no one is asking for such outfit for now.

I decided to start with something simple as I don't really have the strength to sew something stylish and complicated, lucky enough for me, my neighbor brought this fabric for me to make a simple gown for her, "just something simple" she said, with this, I knew it won't take much time for me to sew, but the only thing that tends to take much time is the lining I will be sew it with, the fabric is so soft in texture and requires lining to make it firm and wearable, so I made this simple A-shape gown with double flare sleeves for her.

Since it's a simple A-shape gown, to cut, I folded the fabric in two to cut the front part by measuring the neckline and armhole circumference measurement, also, the bust, waist and hip measurement divide by 4 plus 2" seam and ease allowance then finally, the full length measurement.

After cutting out the front, I placed the front on another folded fabric to cut out the back part of the dress which was cut the same shape as well as the lining.

To sew, first was to sew the lining to each part of the gown by using the lining to turn the neckline for neat finishing.

The remaining fabric that was set aside after cutting out the front and back was used to cut the sleeves, first was to cut out a basic sleeve of 11" after which I cut out a 360° flare for each sleeve by using the round sleeve circumference divide by 6.28 then the desired length of the flare, for this, I cut out the length of 6 and 4" to make a double flare sleeve.

The double flare was turned with lining as well and sewn to the basic sleeve.

The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference and I have my complete A-shape gown with double flare sleeves for my neighbor. She was glad with the outcome as she didn't have to spend much on the fabric and I was able to make it simple and beautiful as well.

It’s true, lining takes so much time
I hate doing it
Sometimes I wish I could just sew without lining
The dress looks pretty though I didn’t know that’s how they make the hands

Thanks for appreciating my work and I'm glad you've learned something from the making of this outfit.
