Spice Bazaar / Mısır Çarşısı

Good Sunday everyone, how are you, I hope everything is fine. It has been raining in Istanbul for a couple of days and it is quite cold. I'm trying hard not to get sick again, but other than that everything is fine. I recently met up with a friend from my hometown and we hung out all day long. We visited some great places, one of them being the "Spice Bazaar".
Before I went here, I thought of the bazaars that are organized on certain days of the week. I thought the Spice Bazaar was like that but I was wrong.
Although it has a very deep-rooted history, it serves people as a modern bazaar. Of course, it has not lost its historical texture. Maybe that's why it is so popular.

Herkese iyi pazarlar, nasılsınız umarım her şey yolundadır. İstanbul birkaç gündür yağışlı ve havalar bayağı soğuk. Tekrardan hasta olmamak için çaba sarf ediyorum. Onun dışında her şey yolunda. Geçenlerde memleketimden bir arkadaşımla buluştum ve gün boyu birlikte takıldık. Harika yerleri gezdik. Bunlardan bir tanesi de "Mısır Çarşısı".
Buraya gitmeden önce kafamda haftanın belirli günleri kurulan pazarlar aklıma geldi. Mısır Çarşısını da bu şekilde diye düşündüm ancak yanıldım.
Çok köklü bir tarihi olsa da modern bir çarşı olarak insanlara hizmet veriyor. Tabiki tarihi dokusunu kaybetmemiş. Belki de bu yüzden çok popüler.

When I entered the bazaar, I smelled an intense smell of spices. I didn't feel uncomfortable because I am good with spices. There are so many shops; food, drinks, clothes and many different products. After seeing the crowd inside, my friend said, "If I had one shop here, it would be enough for my seven clans". 😄
We usually use these clichés for things that are close to impossible to happen. But my friend is right. The value of any shop here may not even be worth millions. Anyway, there is no need to tire our jaws too much on these issues. 😂

Çarşının içine girdiğimde yoğun bir baharat kokusu burnuma geldi. Baharatlarla aram iyi olduğu için rahatsızlık duymadım. Çok fazla dükkan; yiyecek, içecek, elbise vs birçok farklı ürün bulunuyor. İçerdeki kalabalığı gördükten sonra arkadaşım, "Burada bir tane dükkanım olsum yedi sülaleme yeter" dedi. 😄
Bu klişe cümleleri genellikle gerçekleşmesi imkansıza yakın şeyler için kullanırız. Ama arkadaşım gerçekten haklı. Buradaki herhangi bir dükkanın değeri belki de milyonla bile ifade edilemeyecek seviyededir. Neyse bu konularda çenemizi fazla yormaya gerek yok. 😂

The interior of the bazaar is as interesting as the interior of the shops. Shopkeepers take care to keep their shops clean and organized. Which is the way it should be. The products are also very organized. One feels the urge to enter the shop even if one is not going to shop. The friendliness of the shopkeepers is also a nice detail. Many shopkeepers even tried to offer tea.

Çarşının iç kısmı görkemli olduğu kadar dükkanların içerisi de ilgi çekici. Esnaflar dükkanlarını temiz, düzenli tutmaya özen gösteriyor. Ki olması gereken de bu zaten. Ayrıca ürünlerde çok düzenli. İnsan, alışveriş yapmayacak olsa bile dükkana girme isteği geliyor. Esnafların sıcakkanlı olması da güzel bir detay. Hatta birçok esnaf çay ikram etmeye çalıştı.

There is no need to worry about the price. After a small search, you can easily shop according to your budget. In addition, those who want to buy gifts for their spouses and friends can visit with peace of mind. I bought half a kilo of Turkish delight because I am good with sweets. Before I bought it, the shopkeeper offered me different types of Turkish delight to taste. The flavors are also very good.

Fiyat konusunda ise endişelenmeye gerek yok. Küçük bir arayıştan sonra bütçenize göre kolaylıkla alışveriş yapabilirsiniz. Ayrıca eşine, dostuna hediye almak isteyen gönül rahatlığıyla ziyaret edebilir. Tatlılarla aram iyi olduğu için yarım kilo lokum aldım. Almadan önce esnaf abi tadına bakmam için farklı türlerden lokum ikram etti. Lezzetleri de gayet güzel.

Although the products of Turkish culture are at the forefront, there are also products from different cultures. It is one of the places to visit for those who are interested in natural products and medicinal herbs. There was a very intense smell of fresh thyme coming from one of the shops. It was exactly the same as the smell in our region (Taurus Mountains). It made me feel like I was traveling in the plateau. 😄

Türk kültürünün ürünleri ön planda olsa da farklı kültürlere ait ürünlerde bulunmakta. Doğal ürünlere, şifalı bitkilere ilgisi olanlar içinde ziyaret edilmesi gereken yerlerden biri. Dükkanın birinden çok yoğun bir şekilde taze kekik kokusu geliyordu. Bizim yöredeki (Toroslar) kokunun tıpa tıp aynısı. Kendimi yaylada geziyormuşum gibi hissettirdi. 😄

If you are not going to the Spice Bazaar for shopping but just for sightseeing, you can easily visit it in half an hour or forty minutes. There is no problem in taking pictures. I recommend you to visit on a day when there are no crowds.

Mısır çarşısına alışveriş için gitmeyip sadece gezmeye gidecekseniz yarım saat, kırk dakika gibi bir sürede rahatlıkla gezebilirsiniz. Resim çekme konusunda da herhangi bir sorun yok. Kalabalığın olmadığı bir günde ziyaret etmenizi tavsiye ederim.

My friend and I had a good time together. Since he liked coffee very much, he bought some coffee and we left the bazaar. It is located in Eminönü- Fatih. Those who want to visit can take a note. I will continue my Istanbul adventure from where I left off.
