I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Indigo in Adelaide recently... centrally located, right across the road from the Adelaide food-markets, you are a short walk away from some of the best restaurants and cafes, in addition to stalls featuring the best of the local produce! What more can you ask for in a hotel?!?!?!

Hotel Indigo is a pretty nice boutique hotel, the halls are light and airy, and colourfully decorated with the designs and motifs of the Adelaide Festival. Actually, I think that it is quite closely associated with the cultural and arts festival... and it shows in all the wall decorations!

The design of the hotel is unashamedly modern in style... with a vast arrange of colour in the lobby. Thankfully, the rooms are more muted in colour! However, the designs of some of the furniture is interesting and eye catching. Take for instance this desk/wardrobe/luggage rack... I'm note quite sure if I like it or not... I'm in mixed minds... I think I do like it, and would even consider something similar for our own house... just minus the luggage rack part!

The walls of the room feature similar Adelaide festival themed wallpaper... I'm pretty sure that they don't put these up for the two weeks of the actual festival, so I guess that they are up there all the time! Hence, the suspicion that the collaboration is quite a long-standing and mutually beneficial one.

The lounge is an odd choice... the rest of the furniture is quite modern in style whilst the couch is something that I would expect from decadent boudoir... on the other hand, perhaps I've been away from Australia too long! We always had a way of fusing and mixing up various styles and cultures... in food and in other designs! A real melting pot of cultures and backgrounds!

Nothing too out of the ordinary with the bathroom. Modern in style, and thankfully a well draining shower which didn't lead me to flooding the bathroom floor each morning! Sadly, there were no little shampoos and things for the kids... more environmentally friendly I guess, but my kids do love those little things!

From the middle floors, you have a nice outlook over the Adelaide CBD. I hadn't realised this, but Adelaide is pretty damn flat!

Breakfast is always an important part of a hotel stay... having a decent start to the day always makes an away stay much more pleasurable! Thankfully, Hotel Indigo has one of the better breakfasts.... you aren't ushered into a buffet style breakfast like most other hotels, but you are seated at the cafe downstairs where you order from a set list of very enticing breakfasts... from full breakfasts, through to interesting vegan and vegetarian options... all made with local produce, likely from the nearby markets!

My only gripe about this was the seating arrangement, which was quite open and public... there are very few tables with corners or backs to walls... which would be my preferred option in the morning. After all, when I'm eating breakfast, I'm not really keen on chatting to colleagues! That said... it won't kill me!

Fresh juice and coffee on tap... the coffee is pretty decent, and you can just sit and keep ordering that famous Australian export, the flat white!

Highlight of the breakfasts for me was the very very tasty Bircher museli, with honeycomb sprinkles, local honey and pears. I always love Bircher museli... I really should make it at home, if it is on order, I will generally order it at least once for breakfast... I find that it is a nice settling meal to start the day with, especially if I've already downed a plate of sausages, eggs or cold cut meats!

In fact, even if I wasn't staying at the Hotel.. I would drop by for their breakfasts!

So, as you can probably tell.. I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Indigo! Highly recommended and would definitely visit again... I'm just glad that when I'm working, I don't have to think about footing the bill!
