300 Acres: Perth AUSTRALIA

300 Acres: Perth AUSTRALIA.jpg

So, for the first time in a very very long time, we had visited a golf course. Now, we were there to play mini golf... and afterwards, we stopped off at the golf club restaurant to enjoy a dinner afterwards.

So, it was onwards to 300 Acres... where we were the weird little family amongst lots of golfers and their families on a late Friday evening.

The Space

Well... if nothing else, the place oozed class! A well stocked bar and a very classy style in furnishings.

Lots of space indoors for seating... and a large verandah which was completely full of diners... and another large seating area in the front area where people were enjoying post-golfing drinks.

The Menu

A very interesting looking menu....a good chunk of standard pub fare type foods, plus lots of interesting looking restaurant style food to round it out. Sadly, lots of it was quite pricey... more than a equivalent restaurant or gastro-pub. But I guess if you are sitting in the middle of a pretty classy golf club, then you can probably try your luck at seeing how high you can go!

The Food

So, my oldest ordered a chicken burger... and these were served up with some really interest potato scallops! I have to say that I was pretty impressed by the burger... nice tender chicken and great filling and sauce.... and the scallops were tops as well!

Meanwhile, my wife and youngest shared a Margherita pizza... this type of pizza has started be a staple in our pizza orders. I'm afraid that this particular take on the Italian classic was pretty ordinary... too much cheese is always a bad thing!

... and finally, I ordered a lamb gnocchi dish. Small serving, and unfortunately very very salty... It was okay, but not the best version that I've had. That said, the actual gnocchi was pretty decent... just the sauce was not so good for my taste.

The Experience

So, as a once off treat... the food was passable, but the prices were too high. For this price, you would be better finding a decent restaurant instead.

And another thing, there was a distinct shortage of staff and co-ordination of tasks. We were waiting for a touch over an hour after ordering... and it took nearly 30 minutes to put an order in as well. There were also other diners that were waiting for their food for more than 90 minutes (they made a complaint...), and it turned out that their orders were lost.

So, more staff were needed to handle the load... and perhaps a better co-ordination of tasks?

I don't think that we would return to eat here!
