Wat Phra Singh: a temple in the center of Chiang Mai that shines brightly

The golden color stands out from the city thanks to the resplendent stupas offered by this impressive masterpiece, completely linked to Buddhism, like most temples in Chiang Mai, a city in northern Thailand, in the heart of the most continental part of the country.

Several meters before reaching this temple, this color appears as if it wants to reach the sky, making it impossible to ignore and leading you almost directly there.

Wat Phra Singh: un Templo en el centro de Chiang Mai para brillar

El dorado sobresale de la ciudad gracias a las estupas resplandecientes que ofrece esta impresionante obra maestra, vinculada por completo con el Budismo, como la mayoría de los templos de Chiang Mai, una ciudad al norte de Tailandia, en el corazón de la porción de tierra más continental de este país.

Varios metros antes de llegar a este templo, este color aparece como queriendo llegar al cielo, haciendo imposible ignorarlo y conduciendo casi directamente hacia allí.

Once you arrive, after finding it impossible not to approach such splendid colors, the golden elephants, the Buddha statues, and the temple buildings in general leave you speechless, as if recalculating in the face of such beauty, which also plays beautifully with the sky. And I won't even mention sunset...

Buddhist temples reminded me that you can never fully get to know a place, as its personality is expressed differently in summer than in winter, during the day in one way and at night in another, and so on. You get the idea.

Una vez habiendo llegado, tras hacerse imposible no acercarse a tan esplendoroso color, los elefantes dorados, las estatuas de Buda y las construcciones del mismo templo en general, te dejan más que boquiabierto, como recalculando ante tanta belleza que además hace un juego precioso con el cielo. Y ni te cuento si se trata del atardecer…

Los templos budistas me recordaron que los lugares al final nunca se terminan de conocer, pues su personalidad se expresa en verano de una forma diferente que en invierno, de día, de una manera y de noche de otra, y así, ya me entienden el concepto.

Wat Phra Singh is calm, in the middle of a city taken over by tourism, by freedom, healthy most of the time, by the legal marijuana sold en masse just a few meters from each temple.

This temple, like others, has the ability to go a little beyond the noise provided by the crowd itself, inviting a moment of prayer and meditation.

Wat Phra Singh es calma, en medio de una ciudad apoderada por el turismo, por la libertad, sana la mayoría de sus veces, por la marihuana legal que se vende de manera masiva a poquísimos metros de cada templo.

Este templo, como otros, tiene la capacidad de ir un poco más allá del ruido que brinda la misma muchedumbre, invitando a un momento de rezo y meditación.

I was blessed to see it around 5:30 p.m., as the sun was setting on that day in Chiang Mai.

I prayed for a moment, and my prayer consisted of breathing deeply and acknowledging my body, while thanking God.

Tuve la bendición de verlo sobre las 17:30 horas, cuando el sol se despedía de aquel día en Chiang Mai.

Recé por un momento, y mi rezo consistió en respirar profundamente y reconocer mi cuerpo, mientras le agradecía a Dios.

Today I share with you this beautiful experience, the result of finally resigning from my volunteer work in this area of Thailand, after experiencing that situation in Krabi where they wanted to hold my passport for a whole month.

In the end, as my grandmother used to say, “every cloud has a silver lining.” What I have learned along the way and what I continue to learn every day was meant to come to me, and life took care of putting the pieces together to make it happen.

Hoy comparto con ustedes esta bella experiencia, resultado de haber dado finalmente de baja a mi voluntariado por esta zona de Tailandia, tras haber experimentado en Krabi aquella situación en donde quisieron retener mi pasaporte por un mes entero.

Al final, como decía mi abuela, “no hay mal que por bien no venga”. Lo que he aprendido en el camino y lo que sigo aprendiendo a diario, no tenía otro curso más que llegar a mi, y la vida se encargó de acomodar las piezas para que así fuera.
