ola queridos Hivers, soy Belkis Carolina y esta es mi participación en @holos-lotus en su maravilloso concurso Films que inspiran, donde puedo hablar de lo que me encanta y el mensaje que hay detrás de esta película, LA LLEGADA.

Este film fue estrenado en 2016 y trata sobre el arribo a la tierra de 12 naves alienígenas, algo que conmociona a todo el planeta. Debido a eso los países crean comisiones militares donde reúnen a especialistas en física, matemática, biología, lingüistas entre otros.

Es precisamente cuando entra en escena la experta linguista Dra. Luoise Banks (Amy Adams) que tiene como misión, en establecer un lenguaje que permita interactuar con ellos y saber por qué están aquí.

Se convierte en toda una carrera contra el tiempo y una alternancia entre sueños y realidad, entre presente y futuro.

Hi dear Hivers, I'm Belkis Carolina and this is my participation in @holos-lotus in your wonderful contest Films that inspire, where I can talk about what I love and the message behind this movie, ARRIVAL.

This film was released in 2016 and is about the arrival of 12 alien ships to earth, something that shocks the whole planet. Because of that, countries create military commissions where they gather specialists in physics, mathematics, biology, linguists among others.

It is precisely when the expert linguist Dr. Luoise Banks (Amy Adams) enters the scene, whose mission is to establish a language that allows to interact with them and to know why they are here.

It becomes a race against time and an alternation between dreams and reality, between present and future.

¿ME PUEDES ENTENDER?

na de las primeras reflexiones que me trajo este film, es la comunicación, lo importante que es que tanto emisor como receptor se entiendan; y eso es precisamente uno de los obstáculos que presentamos como seres humanos; las dificultades que tenemos en entendernos entre familia, amigos, parejas, ciudadanos, gobiernos, países.

La Llegada denota el esfuerzo de la Dra. Banks por entender lo que verdaderamente quieren transmitir estos seres y así evitar que el mensaje se malinterprete, obligándola a mantener una visión holística de lo que sucedía, aun cuando no estaba del todod claro.

¿Cuantas veces nos hemos visto en situaciones parecidas? ¿Cuántas veces hemos tenido que deslastrarnos de prejuicios para poder hallar una solución? ¿Cuántas veces un abrazo basta para sanar heridas?

Saber que podemos comunicar no sólo con palabras, sino con acciones, con gestos, con la mirada. Y esto se convirtió en algo esencial para nosotros hoy día, luego de que vimos restringidas nuestras formas de comunicación por el covid. Los ojos más que nunca, se han convertido en el espejo del alma.

CAN YOU UNDERSTAND ME?

One of the first reflections that this film brought me is communication, how important it is that both sender and receiver understand each other; and that is precisely one of the obstacles that we present as human beings; the difficulties we have in understanding each other among family, friends, couples, citizens, governments, countries.

Arrival denotes the effort of Dr. Banks to understand what these beings want to transmit and thus prevent the message from being misinterpreted, forcing her to maintain a holistic view of what was happening, even when it was not entirely clear.

How many times have we seen ourselves in similar situations? How many times have we had to get rid of prejudices to find a solution? How many times is a hug enough to heal wounds?

Knowing that we can communicate not only with words, but with actions, with gestures, with our gaze. And this became essential for us today, after we saw our forms of communication restricted by covid. The eyes, more than ever, have become the mirror of the soul.

¿VALE LA PENA AMAR?

tro aspecto, y para mí el más importante, es la historia personal que está viviendo la protagonista. En el climáx del film descubre parte de su futuro, algo que le marca y que podría haberle hecho cambiar de rumbo, pero aun así decide transitarlo.

Aunque ya conoce el desenlace de su historia, no dejó que esto la privara de vivir el amor, no solo de pareja sino como madre, prefirió compartir, tener sus recuerdos, llorar, consolar y abrazar, a no tener nada; decidió vivir.

A veces decidimos no arriesgarnos a amar para no sufrir, pero eso nos evita vivir, y la vida es alegría - tristeza, compañía - soledad, alivio - dolor, esta dicotomía que nos acompaña en toda nuestra existencia; aunque si es cierto, muchas veces cuando estamos en esos momentos de dolor, queremos evitarlos, ¿pero acaso no querer sentir el dolor del amor, nos aleja de poder experimentarlo?

IS IT WORTH LOVING?

Another aspect, and for me the most important, is the personal story that the protagonist is living. At the climax of the film she discovers part of her future, something that marks her and that could have made her change course, but she still decides to go through it.

Although she already knows the outcome of her story, she did not let this deprive her of living love, not only as a couple but also as a mother, she preferred to share, to have her memories, to cry, to comfort and to embrace, rather than to have nothing; she decided to live.

Sometimes we decide not to risk loving in order not to suffer, but that prevents us from living, and life is joy - sadness, company - loneliness, relief - pain, this dichotomy that accompanies us throughout our existence; although it is true, many times when we are in those moments of pain, we want to avoid them, but does not wanting to feel the pain of love, keep us from being able to experience it?

ace muchos años leí el libro Protégete del Dr. Lair Ribeiro, y en una parte del mismo, aparece un corto diálogo con una mujer que le pregunta:

¿Y cuánto dura el amor?
Dura lo que tiene que durar.

Esa frase se fijó en mí, porque a veces queremos que todo dure para siempre, sin cambios, sin embargo sabemos que como seres humanos estamos en crecimiento constante, en evolución; puede ser que en un momento dado el amor se transforme y evolucione a otra cosa donde no necesiten estar juntos; pero eso no significa que se dejó de amar.

Esta película expresa eso también, la Dra. Banks no renuncia al amor, a la compañía; todo lo contrario lo vive, lo siente, lo comparte.

Quien ha tenido a un familiar/ amigo/ pareja enferma, que ha fallecido lo sabe; a pesar de todo el dolor que se puede sentir, no se renuncia al amor que se siente por ese ser aun y cuando ya no está.

La llegada nos invita a ser valientes, a aceptar el amor tal cual se nos presenta, a compartir y expresarle al otro lo que significa para nosotros, a decir Te Amo.

Nunca pensé que éste film me fuera a dejar un mensaje tan profundo; al terminar de verlo me dije: "Realmente es una historia de amor."

Many years ago I read the book Protégete by Dr. Lair Ribeiro, and in one part of it, there is a short dialogue with a woman who asks him:

And how long does love last?
It lasts as long as it has to last

That phrase was fixed in me, because sometimes we want everything to last forever, without changes, however, we know that as human beings we are in constant growth, in evolution; it may be that at a given moment love transforms and evolves to something else where they do not need to be together, but that does not mean that love stopped.

This film expresses that too, Dr. Banks does not renounce love, the company; on the contrary, she lives it, she feels it, she shares it.

Whoever has had a sick relative/friend/partner who has died knows this; despite all the pain one may feel, one does not renounce the loved one feels for that being even when he/she is no longer there.

Arrival invites us to be brave, to accept love as it is, to share and express to the other what it means to us, to say I love you.

I never thought that this film would leave me with such a deep message; when I finished watching it I said to myself: **"It is a love story.
