¡Hola saludos a la bella comunidad de Hive! Me siento muy contenta de poder compartir mi experiencia en esta maravillosa comunidad, hace unas semanas tuve la oportunidad de hacer senderismo junto a mi familia y amigos en el Monumento Natural de mi isla llamado Cerro Guayamurí.

Tengo el privilegio de vivir desde hace 17 años en este rincón maravilloso La isla de Margarita. Es un lugar definitivamente espectacular, su geografía es tan diversa que encontrarás playas, ríos, senderos boscosos, cuevas, lagunas, salinas… en fin toda una riqueza natural para disfrutar y deleitarse.

Mi hogar se encuentra en el sector de El Cardón y tengo la bendición de contar con hermosas vistas una de ellas corresponde a un hermoso monumento natural llamado Guayamurí.

I have the privilege of living for 17 years in this wonderful corner of Margarita Island. It is definitely a spectacular place, its geography is so diverse that you will find beaches, rivers, forest trails, caves, lagoons, salt flats... in short, a whole natural wealth to enjoy and delight.

My home is located in the sector of El Cardon and I have the privilege of having beautiful views, one of them corresponds to a beautiful natural monument called Guayamuri.

Este cerro tiene una hermosa forma de volcán y su nombre Guayamuri indican los residentes de la zona corresponde a un vocablo indígena que algunos aseguran que significa Tortuga, quizá por el hecho de que en épocas específicas del año es muy común ver llegar a sus playas aledañas un espectáculo impresionante, nada más y nada menos que enormes tortugas llegan a la orilla a poner sus huevos (desove), yo vivo en El Cardón y gracias a esto en varias ocasiones he tenido la oportunidad de ver este maravilloso acto de la naturaleza, los vecinos nos llamaban durante la noche y salíamos rápidamente hacia la playa y al llegar WoW que increíble ¡ver a una Tortuga Marina desovar! dentro de toda la maravilla de ese espectáculo natural una de las cosas que me impresionó en gran manera fue ¡el tamaño de la tortuga! Su caparazón parecía el capó de un carro de esos escarabajos Volkswagen.

El siguiente acto correspondía a ver cómo con sus patas traseras comenzaba a hacer un enorme hoyo y luego comenzaba poco a poco a poner sus huevos. Al terminar el desove tapaba el hoyo con más arena y se iba nuevamente a la playa, recuerdo que justamente las veces que pudimos apreciar este evento había luna llena.

En la orilla ya estaban las brigadas conservacionistas acordonado el lugar dónde estaban los huevos, colocaban las bandas de protección para iniciar el cuido de ellos hasta que se cumpliera el tiempo de nacer de los pequeños tortuguillos.

Otro dato interesante suministrado por el personal del equipo de las brigadas y que de verdad me causó gran asombro, es que este proceso de desove es cronológico y geográfico, nos narraban que estas tortugas de grandes dimensiones crecen y pasan toda su vida en el mar pero cuando van a poner sus huevos o el desove lo hacen nada más y nada menos que en la playa donde ellos nacieron hace 15 0 20 años, esto de verdad me pareció asombroso y magnífico.

Ahora bien, resulta que este cerro que se levanta tras estas bellas playas, es un todo un destino turístico en el que se puede hacer senderismo y pasar un día grandioso. Para acceder a él se debe llegar al municipio Antolín del Campo en el sector de el Cardón y posteriormente dirigirse a Manantial de Guayamuri.

This hill has a beautiful volcano shape and its name Guayamuri according to the residents of the area corresponds to an indigenous word that some say means turtle, perhaps due to the fact that at specific times of the year it is very common to see an impressive spectacle arriving to its surrounding beaches, Nothing more and nothing less than huge turtles come to the shore to lay their eggs (spawning), I live in El Cardon and thanks to this on several occasions I have had the opportunity to see this wonderful act of nature, the neighbors called us during the night and we went quickly to the beach and when we arrived WoW how incredible to see a sea turtle spawning! In all the wonder of this natural spectacle one of the things that impressed me greatly was the size of the turtle! Its shell looked like the hood of one of those Volkswagen Beetle cars.

The next act was to see how with its hind legs it began to make a huge hole and then slowly began to lay its eggs. When the spawning was finished, she would cover the hole with more sand and go back to the beach, I remember that the times we were able to see this event there was a full moon.

On the shore the conservationist brigades were already cordoned off the place where the eggs were, they placed the protection bands to start taking care of them until the time for the little turtles to hatch was over.

Another interesting fact provided by the staff of the brigade team and that really caused me great astonishment, is that this nesting process is chronological and geographical, they told us that these large turtles grow and spend their entire lives in the sea but when they go to lay their eggs or nest they do nothing more and nothing less than on the beach where they were born 15 or 20 years ago, this really seemed amazing and magnificent.

Now, it turns out that this hill that rises behind these beautiful beaches, is a whole tourist destination where you can hike and spend a great day. To access it you must reach the municipality of Antolín del Campo in the sector of El Cardón and then go to Manantial de Guayamuri.

El día que emprendimos la aventura comenzamos a subir hacia Manantial de Guayamuri, normalmente en la isla el buen clima es típico, pero el día que planificamos hacer la excursión amaneció muy nublado y en la noche anterior estuvo lloviendo, lo que daría un plus digamos divertido a la experiencia.

La caminata inicialmente es moderada, mientras estamos en sus faldas el espacio es ancho para caminar y bastante plano, pero a medida en que se avanza, el camino comienza a estrecharse con abundante vegetación y a tornarse más empinado.

The day we set out on the adventure we began to climb towards Manantial de Guayamuri, normally on the island the good weather is typical, but the day we planned to make the excursion dawned very cloudy and the night before it was raining, which would give a plus let's say fun to the experience.

The hike is initially moderate, while we are in the foothills the space is wide to walk and fairly flat, but as we advance, the road begins to narrow with abundant vegetation and become steeper.

Por eso es importante llevar pantalones largos, ya que, constantemente las ramas hacen contacto con nuestro cuerpo. El primer camino es bastante sencillo, el suelo está formado por muchas rocas y poca tierra así que aún no percibimos los efectos de la lluvia de la noche, algo que llama la atención es que al ir subiendo se puede percibir un agradable olor a pizza, esto producto a que muchas plantas de orégano arropan el lugar y mientras apartamos sus ramas el olor comienza a expandirse en el ambiente.

El camino a recorrer es muy seguro una sola senda demarca la ruta, solo en algunas ocasiones se encuentran algunas "Y" pero es muy sencilla la dirección siempre hacia la izquierda. Mientras vamos subiendo ya inicia la dificultad, muchos de nosotros nos apoyamos con unos palos que nos sirven de apoyo para ir ascendiendo. Ya es importante comenzar a hidratarse y dependiendo de la aptitud física se van haciendo pequeñas paradas. Luego de unos minutos caminando y subiendo llegamos a un primer claro que nos muestra lo poco que hemos avanzado y lo mucho que falta.

The road to travel is very safe a single path demarcates the route, only in some occasions there are some "Y" but it is very simple the direction always to the left. While we are going up and the difficulty begins, many of us are supported with sticks that serve as support for us to go up. It is important to start hydrating and depending on the physical fitness we make small stops. After a few minutes walking and climbing we reach a first clearing that shows us how little we have advanced and how much we still have to do.

Allí tomamos un descanso admirando el bello paisaje, el día estaba bastante nublado y se veían nubes de lluvia a lo lejos. Aprovechamos y comimos unos mangos que encontramos en el camino, tomamos suficiente agua y nos sentamos por unos minutos a admirar el paisaje.

Continuamos nuestra caminata, ahora mientras más ascendemos la vegetación se hacía más espesa a los lados del camino, la temperatura se va tornando cada vez más baja y ya comenzamos a sentir el sudor de nuestro cuerpo enfriarse.

El suelo está formado por una tierra arcillosa característico de la zona y ahora mojada se torna extremadamente resbaladiza, aquí está el plus del que les decía, se convirtió en toda una odisea subir el camino tan empinado y tan resbaloso.

Las risas no paraban al hacer malabares para evitar resbalar y caer, nos adentramos un poco hacia los lados del camino dónde había vegetación y eso nos permitía anclarnos.

There we took a break admiring the beautiful scenery, the day was quite cloudy and we could see rain clouds in the distance. We took advantage and ate some mangos that we found on the way, drank enough water and sat for a few minutes to admire the scenery.

We continued our hike, now the more we ascend the vegetation became thicker on the sides of the road, the temperature is becoming lower and lower and we began to feel the sweat of our body to cool down.

The ground is formed by a clay soil characteristic of the area and now wet becomes extremely slippery, here is the plus I was saying, it became quite an odyssey to climb the road so steep and so slippery.

The laughter did not stop when juggling to avoid slipping and falling, we went a little to the sides of the road where there was vegetation and that allowed us to anchor.

Poco a poco el tipo de vegetación iba cambiando, me recordaba un poco a la vegetación de Mérida y es que arriba encontramos una variedad de plantas parecida a la de las zonas frías.

Mientras subíamos comenzó a llover, una lluvia rápida y no muy fuerte, se podía apreciar la neblina, las hojas mojadas y el sonido de la lluvia fue un momento muy placentero y relajante.

Finalmente llegamos a la cúspide, arriba no hay mucho qué recorrer; se encuentra una enorme roca donde todos nos sentamos a observar hacia el otro lado del cerro, a comer los snacks que llevamos y a contemplar la naturaleza.

Little by little the type of vegetation was changing, it reminded me a little of the vegetation of Merida and we found a variety of plants similar to that of the cold areas.

While we were climbing it started to rain, a fast and not very strong rain, we could appreciate the mist, the wet leaves and the sound of the rain, it was a very pleasant and relaxing moment.

Finally we reached the top, there is not much to go up; there is a huge rock where we all sat down to look at the other side of the hill, to eat the snacks we had brought and to contemplate nature.

La gente siempre comentaba que arriba siempre aparecía un mono y estando en la roca descansando comiendo entre otras cosas cambur, comenzamos a escuchar a un perrito que nos acompañó durante el ascenso ladrar de forma muy insistente y al acercarnos a ver lo que ocurría era el monito que estaba allí casi que pidiéndonos comida.

Nos acercamos a él y era muy muy dócil solo le asustaba los ladridos del perro, pero con nosotros muy amigable, le dimos cambur y hacía ruiditos muy graciosos, fue un momento encantador

People always commented that up there always appeared a monkey and being on the rock resting eating among other things cambur, we began to hear a little dog that accompanied us during the ascent barking very insistently and when we approached to see what was happening was the monkey that was there almost asking us for food.

We approached him and he was very very docile, he was only frightened by the barking of the dog, but very friendly with us, we gave him cambur and he made very funny noises, it was a lovely moment.

Para subir a paso moderado tardamos como dos horas aproximadamente, estuvimos un buen rato arriba descansando y admirando el paisaje y entonces emprendimos el retorno.

El paisaje a nuestro alrededor era fantástico, no era fácil creer que estábamos en Margarita, dónde las altas temperaturas y el sol ardiente son la característica principal y común.

Estábamos frente a un bosque mojado y con mucha neblina, encontramos durante el descenso una flor muy hermosa típica de la vegetación del lugar, todo era hermoso, una paz y tranquilidad se respiraba allí.

It took about two hours to climb at a moderate pace, we spent some time at the top resting and admiring the scenery and then we started our return.

The landscape around us was fantastic, it was not easy to believe that we were in Margarita, where the high temperatures and the burning sun are the main and common characteristic.

We were in front of a wet and foggy forest, we found during the descent a very beautiful flower typical of the vegetation of the place, everything was beautiful, a peace and tranquility was breathed there.

La diversión iniciaría de nuevo, ya que el suelo estaba muy resbaladizo y habíamos llegado a los tramos empinados, muchos decidieron bajar arrastrándose de las pompis y evitar caídas, otros más envalentonados lo hicieron de pie sin apoyo de ningún palo y la consecuencia se caían a cada rato, se hizo muy muy divertido, las risas y carcajadas no paraban.

The fun would start again, since the ground was very slippery and we had reached the steep sections, many decided to crawl down by their buttocks to avoid falling, others more emboldened did it standing without the support of any stick and the consequence was falling every time, it was very very funny, the laughter and laughter did not stop.

Las piernas en este punto ya se encuentran cansadas, por lo empinado del terreno y por la fuerza que hacíamos para bajar y evitar caer, poco a poco íbamos descendiendo y la vegetación comenzaba a hacerse cada vez menos espesa.

Llegamos a un pequeño terreno donde se podía contemplar nuestra playa, o mejor dicho las playas, teníamos una vista en zoom de la zona y comenzamos a identificar elementos del lugar: la casa nuestra, el ambulatorio, la escuela, el pueblo vecino, algunas tiendas, era como jugar con un mapa en 3D.

La experiencia fue maravillosa, pasar un día con amigos y la familia haciendo este tipo de actividades no tiene precio. Es como me enseñó una buena amiga: son recuerdos que atesoraré por siempre en mi mente y mis recuerdos me los llevo a todos lados.

The legs at this point are already tired, because of the steepness of the terrain and the strength we were doing to go down and avoid falling, little by little we were descending and the vegetation began to become less and less thick.

We reached a small piece of land where we could see our beach, or rather the beaches, we had a zoom view of the area and began to identify elements of the place: our house, the clinic, the school, the neighboring village, some stores, it was like playing with a 3D map.

The experience was wonderful, spending a day with friends and family doing this kind of activities is priceless. It's like a good friend taught me: they are memories that I will treasure forever in my mind and my memories I take with me everywhere.
