Greetings Hivers, welcome to the Weekly ASEAN Hive "Hot Goss", where I @justinparke dig up false ASEAN Hive rumors and spread even more, but all in satirical fun and support of Southeast Asian content on Hive.

♨️ ASEAN HIVE WEEKLY "HOT GOSS" 🀫

Β  Β  Β I start off this week's Hot Goss with a little rumor I heard from sources in Indonesia. Apparently A NEW RESTAURANT HAS OPENED THAT ONLY SERVES WHITE RICE. The prices are affordable as would be expected, and this extreme affordability keeps the customers coming back.
Β  Β  Β Who would've guessed such a simple restaurant concept would work so well. This business is turning the restaurant industry upside down in Indonesia. My daughters, occasionally averse to eating veggies, would probably love to visit this place and have a hot bowl of white rice.

Β  Β  Β Now we head south to OZ where A COUPLE HAS STOLEN A SAILBOAT IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT TO SE ASIA. Luckily for them, Australia is practically in Southeast Asia already, so they won't have far to travel to escape Australian authorities.
Β  Β  Β Also, this lady is a new Hiver, so I hope she gets my terrible sense of humor and doesn't take this curation the wrong way. The destination for her and her hubby is Indonesia, so let's hope we see this adventurous couple in SE Asia very soon.

Β  Β  Β To end this curation, I want to share with you THE CASE OF THE HIDING WIFE. This Thai family is very playful, and the wife sometimes likes to hide in the garden and pretend to be a plant.
In this post you can see her pretending to be a fern, but her husband quickly found her and recommended she try and be aloe vera next time. I'd play hide and seek withy my wife, but my farts would always reveal my location 😁.

Until Next Time ASEAN Hivers....

Β  Β  Β Don't forget that this curation is merely fictional satire, so don't take anything I write too seriously.

It's a good job my daughter just brought me some food, that white rice restaurant was beginning to sound like luxury food. I was also nearly starting to regret removing our ferns from the garden. πŸ˜† I didn't know ferns could be edible. It's amazing what we can learn from different cultures to regain knowledge we seem to have lost in the west.

I've just been doing a little horticulture introduction course in one of our local growing regions and so many of the community there are Asian. Another lady on the course was Cambodian and those kind eyes immediately looked familiar. 😁She's lived here 30 years, which would mean she came here quite young, yet she still struggles with English, so that gives an idea how strong the communities are here. On one of our grower tours she told me a couple of the workers spoke her language. She has very little need to use English daily. There are a lot of Vietnamese growers there too.

I am glad you learned a few things despite me just being a silly goose. Lots of Cambodians were resettled in Australia during the genocide, and just like the USA, communities are often very isolated. I know the Cambodians in the USA engage in massive amounts of illegal and unlicensed businesses. Basically they learn enough about the USA to see the bureaucracy is overwhelming compared to the wild west capitalism of Cambodia, so they decide to sell food, do nails, or whatever, but only to Cambodian customers who can keep a secret and won't snitch on someone operating a business from residential property.

I have met a handful of these OZ-Cambodians here, and even taught Khmer to two Australian born Cambodians that wanted to communicate with certain older family members that never learned enough English to hold a conversation. I even know a Kiwi-Cambodian, and he's got the full-on NZ accent even though he left Cambodia when he was 18 years old, now 55 years old. I hope your horticulture course goes well, keep an eye on the SE Asians, they're natural green thumbs for the most part.

It looks like they did, and I'm thankful because I usually don't lay it on so heavy for new members. It's also nice to see more non-Southeast Asians in here, it only makes things more diverse and interesting. I can't wait to see how the sailing adventure to Indonesia goes.

Thank you very much for mentioning my post here.
I am very happy.
Actually what is served here is not just white rice, but many other side dishes, hahahaha, Lo.
But the place that we visit is indeed a comfortable place and the price is very right for us village children.

I am glad you get my terrible sense of humor bro. When I saw the image of the white rice plate I knew I had to use it in this curation. A white rice only restaurant would probably be something my daughters enjoy 😁.
