Skiing in Colorado. Market Friday.

Hello friends,

Today for #MarketFriday I decided to share our experience from skiing in Colorado.

Our kids went to a full day skiing school. We had only one day for that activity otherwise it would be great to practice what they’ve learned on the next day. Unfortunately we had our flight on the next day.

These first photos are basically the entrance area, where people come and park their cars if the come later in the afternoon, or where they can get on the bus to go home.

Here is a map, for people like me, because I tend to go in a wrong direction if it’s a new place for me.

I found a shop, where they sell gears for skiing. I didn’t go inside, the door was open, it was right next to the registration place.

Here we had to wait in line to measure our feet for the boots, and to pick up skis, and helmets. My husband said that in his childhood nobody used helmets there, they didn’t even think that something is wrong. Nowadays it’s great that everything is about safety, I think it’s better that way. I fell once from my electric scooter, after getting scrapes on my forehead, knees, and hands, I purchased a helmet. It was a good lesson for me.

I’m not sure what is the official name for this place, I call it ski parking. People can take off their skis, and leave them here, if they need to go eat or take a break.

I think these are the condos for tourists to rent, it’s right in the middle of skiing area, very convenient.

Here where you see red fence, is a place for the beginners and kids who are learning first steps in skiing. With kids I saw they first taught them to use one ski, and then little by little added more challenging tasks.

I found out that while on the bus passengers still have to wear face masks. I always have a few in my purse just in case, but I didn’t have enough for all of us. It was nice that there were masks hanging by the door for people who forgot to bring their own.

We came here to catch our bus. To get to the car. In the morning it’s not possible to find parking for cars here, so people park their cars 2-3 bis stops away.

Kids did very good for the first time skiers. I took that lesson about 5 years ago. So this time I thought I’m a good skier. No, that wasn’t true. I was doing ok at the beginning, but suddenly I couldn’t control my legs, maybe I panicked because of the speed, or my knees got tired so quickly, I don’t know. It was scary I wasn’t able to control my body, I was speeding just straight down. I could not make zigzags to slow down, I thought I would just crash into something! Thankfully it didn’t happen and closer to the end I was able to do pizza and stop right in front of some lady in the line🙈.

But then something embarrassing happened, I was walking on a hill towards the place where I could take off my skis. Suddenly I began sliding backwards and couldn’t stop it. So I was slowly going down the small hill, where I knocked down a red soft fence. I fell on my back and gave up. I didn’t want to get up, because it was so embarrassing and I was tired and a bit angry. Thankfully my husband and his mom were next to me, to help to get up, and make sure I’m ok. That was my second experience with skiing in Colorado. First time was way better, I guess I became older or I went to a way hard line for my level of skiing. If we go next time, I’m going to the kids area where it’s safer:-)

I still sore a little bit after our trip even after two weeks, but it’s not that bad anymore, we laugh thinking if how awkward my situation was there when I fell on the fence⛷.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.

I read your post and upvoted it 100% and reposted it. I apologize that it has been a week so busy that I didn't have time to finish personal messages on each post. For this, I am sorry as that is the best part of the challenge. (Honestly, reading is, you have no idea how much I learn!) Please know that this doesn't happen often and #MarketFriday enjoys having the opportunity to make a dash around the world weekly.

Thank you for participating in the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through by their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

No worries, I understand @dswigle, that’s why I’m hesitant to start a new community myself, because it takes a lot of time and energy. I’m thankful to you and all the admins and moderators who do this time consuming work 🌷.

I've had it for five years and self curate, and most have several people doing it. I had an ill person to care for all week and it robbed my time.

Usually, I make time, but, it is time-consuming. Also, they start putting them in already! So I had to make a decision like that. I have never done that in five years.

I’m sorry @dswigle you had an ill person, I hope everything is better now🙏.
Maybe I worded my thoughts wrong way last night, English is not my native language. All I meant, I understand and appreciate that you as an admin do a lot of work here, I cannot even imagine how much time you devote to hive.
