The changing of the guard
Under the blazing sun of our squares, nations hold their breath. We see the ‘monster’ of the moment falter, that caudillo who has turned the government palace into his personal lair. However, the real terror does not lie in the present, but in the succession. It is the instinct of the ‘Mockingjay’; we remember Katniss Everdeen drawing her bow, not against old Snow—whose venom was already evident—but unexpectedly turning towards Coin, the supposed ‘liberator’ who, behind the mask of democracy, hid sharper fangs and a lifelong ambition.

Political history is a cruel pendulum that swings between fear and disappointment. Often, the people, in their euphoria at beheading the tyrant, forget to look at the hands of the successor executioner. To illustrate this fatal cycle, let us recall the Fable of the Fox and the Flies:
A wounded fox lay in the forest, covered with flies sucking his blood. A hedgehog, taking pity on him, offered to scare them away. The fox, in a weak voice, refused: ‘Don't do it. These flies are already full and hardly bite; if you remove them, new, hungry ones will come and drink every last drop of my life.’ Interesting, isn't it?
This is how our lives unfold… We change animals, but the jungle remains the same. The citizen's arrow must be aimed wisely; lest, in celebrating the fall of the old predator, we be crowning an even more voracious beast. Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental, he-he.

El relevo de las bestias
Bajo el sol de plomo de nuestras plazas, las naciones contienen el aliento. Vemos al “monstruo” de turno tambalearse, ese caudillo que ha convertido el palacio de gobierno en su madriguera personal. Sin embargo, el terror real no reside en el presente, sino en la sucesión. Es el instinto del “Sinsajo”, recordamos a Katniss Everdeen tensando su arco, no contra el viejo Snow —cuyo veneno ya era evidente—, sino girando inesperadamente hacia Coin, la supuesta “libertadora” que, tras la máscara de la democracia, ocultaba colmillos más afilados y una ambición vitalicia.

La historia política es un péndulo cruel que oscila entre el miedo y la decepción. A menudo, el pueblo, en su euforia por decapitar al tirano, olvida mirar las manos del verdugo sucesor. Para ilustrar este ciclo fatal, recordemos la Fábula del Zorro y las Moscas:
Un zorro herido yacía en el bosque, cubierto de moscas que le chupaban la sangre. Un erizo, compadecido, ofreció espantarlas. El zorro, con voz débil, se negó: —No lo hagas. Estas moscas ya están llenas y apenas pican; si las quitas, vendrán otras nuevas y hambrientas que me beberán hasta la última gota de vida. Interesante ¿no?
Así transcurre nuestra vida... Cambiamos de animal, pero la selva sigue siendo la misma. La flecha ciudadana debe apuntar con sabiduría; no vaya a ser que, al celebrar la caída del viejo depredador, estemos coronando a una bestia más voraz. Todo parecido con la realidad es pura coincidencia, jejeje.
