Meeting Again

There is a time in our lives when school and High School friends are an integral part of our lives. We cannot think of living without them. Even on holidays, we remain in touch with them via messages or calls. But then the time comes when we have to go on our own unique paths. We move apart. Gradually, the distances grow bigger and we hardly get time to communicate and meet.

I am not sure about guys, but being a girl of a conservative society (where you are dependent on others to take you to a place) the physical disconnection is inevitable once you depart the academic institution. Same is the case with me. After leaving high school, when all of us take our own routes towards our desired professional education we somehow became disconnected, though we on and off had some chat. Later, when some of us got married and some joined professional careers, life became busier. The chats also became a rare thing. However, our hearts were connected. The memories of those jovial days were fresh like always. Nevertheless, it was merely a dream that it would be a possibility to have a reunion again. Sometimes, the dreams come true out of nowhere.

One of our friends went abroad after marriage. Five years ago, when she came back to the country, she contacted everyone of us and invited us all at her place. We were a group of nine friends. It was very unlikely to have all of us together because everyone was busy. Three of us had become doctors and could be on duty. One had become journalist, one opted to be dentist, 5 of us (including me) were married with unpredictable responsibilities of married life. However, when the words went on eight of us agreed to join the reunion at the particular. Though only seven of us could meet yet it was a gathering worth joining.

All of us had changed and modified in one way or the other. The journalist friend had become bolder and more courageous. She told us some funny stories of her incidents with celebrities. The doctor friends described the scenarios of hospitals and their experiences at house jobs. The married friends had something to offer about marriage life and motherhood.

Whilst the conversation we had some evening snacks arranged by our host friend. We also revisited the old days of college. We reminded of the time when we would proudly come out of zoology lab to announce that the operation (dissection of frog) was successful while our patient (the 🐸) had died.

We refreshed the memories of the days when we would sit on the specific stairs of the college and opened one packet of Shahi Deluxe

It is a blend of roasted fennel seeds and dry dates.

Only a few fennel seeds would be each one’s share and then we had a quarrel that some of us had a greater portion 😂. Those were moments that brought real laughter in our lives.

Reminding these and many other specialities of college life such as the hectic practical journals of zoology, the interesting hand moving style of physics teacher, the delicious brownie of college canteen and much more the two hours flew away like blink of an eye. I had to leave the gathering when my husband came to pick me. When I left they were still sitting there collecting more memories while I gathered my share and told them “Good Bye"

In life we meet special people and form special connections, it's inevitable, you'll feel sadness when these people are no longer there because a part of the memory has formed a personality which is identifiable and attached to you.

High school days were filled with so much fun we might have forgotten due to growing up and getting busy with adult life, work family, business. Reunion are a way of reminding us of those days also meeting friends that made it fun and memorable then.
I'm glad your turned out quite eventful and fun too.

Yeah... After so many years have passed, it is always fun to come together and catch up. Especially when there is no bad blood or comparison, everyone just wants to have a good time. That is what matters.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

This part got me really emotional, I wish we could control or help the situation but it's just meant to be so.
