[ENG-SPA] Cryptomnesia, jamais vu and fakelore | Criptomnesia, jamais vu y fakelore

As I am writing a poem that has some relation to memory and memories, I have been doing some research on the subject these days and learned some new things.

Let's start with cryptomnesia. It has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies. It is when someone thinks they have a very original idea, but, in reality, they have already read or heard it somewhere else. It's not valid to do it on purpose, of course, that's why it's a kind of "unconscious plagiarism". It's happened to me many times and, in fact, when I write poetry I suffer from a kind of phobia of cryptomnesia (cryptomnesiaphobia, I could invent, although perhaps I've already read it somewhere else), that is, a fear of unconsciously copying some phrase or metaphor that I've already read in some poem, but that I don't remember having read.

Something similar but unrelated (I also learned that there is a term, apophenia, to refer to the tendency to perceive connections between two unrelated phenomena) is jamais vu, a kind of déjà vu in reverse, i.e. experiencing a situation as new, although rationally one knows that it is already known. This may seem strange at first, but there is a quite common situation of jamais vu (at least it has happened to me several times): if you repeat a word a lot, you may stop recognising it, even though rationally it is a known word.

Finally, along the same lines, I learned that the term fakelore is used to refer to cultural manifestations that are falsely passed off as traditional, i.e. as part of folklore. An example of this is Pecos Bill, who is actually a character invented by the writer Edward S. O'Reilly.

This is fantastic! I have experienced every one of the phenomena that you list out at least once, but never knew that they had actual terminology and names attached to them!
