Build your follower base with your votes

On hive we have this great opportunity to upvote content. The more hive power you own, the more your upvotes will be powerful and the more you can use this to actually increase your follower base.

Why I vote on comment on my posts

I've realised that most of the successful authors on hive are doing one or two things systematically. They answer the comments on their posts and they often upvote these comments.

When I take the time to read a post and give a comment, I really appreciate getting an answer to my comment. This shows that the author cares about what I have to add. If in addition, I get an upvote on my comment, this shows that the author appreciates my comment.

My deduction is: if the author cares about what I have to say and appreciates my comment, I will continue to comment.

To grow our follower base we need readers on our posts

If people take the time to read my posts and comment on them and I manage to reward them with an answer and an upvote, the chances are big that these people will visit my posts again. Maybe they reblog my posts or they mention them. Thanks to that, I can maybe get new readers on my future posts.

This only works if people have a nice experience with me. I can help that by answering their comments and by giving upvotes.

Thanks to HF25, you don't lose curation rewards when you upvote comments

Since the last Hard Fork, we have now an almost linear curation curve on hive. This means that as long as my upvote worth is at least around 0.02$, I won't lose any curation rewards when I upvote comments. This is great because I can now give real value to my readers with my upvotes without having to worry that I will reduce my curation rewards.

I believe that upvoting comments is a great tool to help us build our follower base on hive. At the same time it rewards people for the time they spend reading other people's posts. It allows engagement and the building of relationships.

What do you think?

This is true. When someone comments on a post that certainly suggests they appreciate the content. If the author doesn't bother to respects the comments then they lose their readers. So every comment is precious even if it's one word.

I believe that comments are the ingredient that makes hive alive. Thanks to the interaction within comments it's possible to build relationships. So yes in my opinion every comment is valuable :-)

I agree. I use the "Comments" and "Replies" links in the profile pic dropdown menu to see who's responded to my posts and comments. Very useful.

I do the same. It's a great way to track engagement. I also like the notification in peakd.com that show me whenever somebody wrote an answer to my posts or comments.

I agree. The only issue is that my vote tends to not cross the dust threshold unless I vote 50%. So I just rely on passing out tribe tokens.

Using upvotes in tribe tokens is a very good alternative especially for accounts that don't have enogh hive power to give meaningful upvote values (>0.02$).

How does it work with the tokens?
I only used peakd for a short time last year (1 month maybe?) so I'm still a complete beginner. Been back here for 1 week now and so much is so complicated.

When you give an upvote on a post that carries the leofinance tag for example, you will also give it a vote with your Leo stake. It really depends on the tags that are used in the main post.

Thank you for your reply.
What is a Leo stake? And do I have one, how do I know?
I'm so sorry if I'm annoying with supposedly trivial questions. I'm really not good at this stuff.

No problem. There are some tokens that you can stake. It means that you can like block them and this blocked money gives you more powerful upvotes. You can stake LEO for example using leodex or tribaldex. Just be aware that this money will be blocked until you unstake it and it will take some time to unstake before you can access it.

Thanks for your angel patience with me ^^ ...
So it makes sense to use tokens as often as possible, right?

Great information. I try to always upvote comments on my post except when it is only a word or two. I reply to comments on a limited basis. This I should get better at to show how much I value their comments. Thanks for the reminder.

I try to give an answer systematically to all comments on my posts but sometimes I miss a comment or two :-)

Thank you so much for your great and helpful post.
I was looking for exactly that, because I am still a small fish.
Unfortunately I can't take money and deposit it into my account and so I am working my way up. I therefore look at Hive like a kind of piggy bank.
Now I ask myself: How realistic is it that I will have a vote value that makes me interesting for others?
Can I do that, and if so, how do I do it?
I'm still quite a newbie and as a girl I have - as cliché as it may sound - a hard time with IT and technology^^".
Some of my contributions I have kept extra bilingual.

Can someone help me a little?

I started on the platform 4 years ago and really never invested external money. It's possible but it takes a lot of time and dedication :-). A great way to start is to comment on other people's posts. Try to figure out which authors upvote comments from their audience. Follow them and give meaningful comments. This will allow you to earn much more at the beginning rather than create posts that only few people will read. Once people start to know you, they will also read your posts :-)
