My Top 3 Christmas Movies

avatar

So it's that time of the month again for the monthly Top 3 contest. Check it out -> here <-.

This month's theme is Favourite Holiday Movies. I'm going to cheat a little since one of my entries isn't a movie, but still a classic.

Entry One: A Charlie Brown Christmas.

source: feryy.nyc

Definitely my favourite Christmas show of all time. Ever. My own children do not really watch tv, but they will all come out of hiding to watch this one with me. Personally, I always related a lot to Charlie Brown as a child and the story of hope and redemption and, ultimately, friendship is a good one. I even have a Charlie Brown tree on my desk (you can see this post on the computer, even, so you know it's recent (and yes, I know the desk needs to be cleaned)).

Entry Two: A Christmas Carol, 1999 version, with Patrick Stewart

source: thecinematicpackrat.files.wordpress.com/2014/12/a-christmas-carol-2.jpg

There are slightly more than a gazillion remakes of A Christmas Carol and, for the most part, they are all really good. This one in particular, however, really speaks to me. I like Patrick Stewart as a grumpy old man, and he's got an awesome ensemble cast including Richard E. Grant, Joel Grey, and Ian McNeice. The scenery as well is top-notch, and I can just imagine Christmas being just like that in London in the mid 19th century. It probably wasn't, but I like to imagine it, and every time I watch it I can picture myself there.

Entry Three: The Santa Clause 2

I really enjoyed the original The Santa Clause. I refuse to acknowledge "The Santa Clause 3" as even existing (I put it in quotes to refer to it as a fictional belief). But The Santa Clause 2 is my favourite of the two.

source: btrtoday

In this choice classic, we see Santa (Tim Allen) needing to find a wife (Mrs. Claus) in time for Christmas lest he lost the magic of Santa and become, like the rest of us, mere mortals. Of course, there would then also be no Santa. Hijinks ensue, but what I like is how he becomes ready to sacrifice his magic to make other people happy and lift their spirits. This is very definitely a "feel good" Disney movie with all the trappings within; regardless, it reminds me of childhood joy and magic, which I enjoy this time of year.

Thanks for these awesome suggestions for our contest this month! We've given you an upvote and logged your nominations, ready for the dpoll - keep an eye on our blog for the dpoll post!

Set your post payout to 50/50. You keep the SP and then transfer the STEEM and/or SBD (whichever is paid out at the time) to @yourtop3 with a link to your blog post entry in the transfer memo. This is the minimum entry fee, but you can add as much as you like to it! The more you add, the more you can win. There is no maximum entry fee.

Not sure how to find your post payout? Look in your Steem Wallet under Author Rewards to find the exact payout for your post. In the example below you would send the 0.014 SBD and 6.587 STEEM over to the @yourtop3 account as your entry fee. We’ll take it from there and convert all of the prize pool to SBD for easy prize distribution at the end of the month!

Tim Allen did play a good Santa. I have only seen the first one but thought it wasn't too bad. I know I've seen the Charlie Browns Christmas but for some reason I can only remember the broken tree lol. I Haven't seen your second nomination either but Patrick Stewart is quite a legend!

Thank you for entering our contest once more. You're awesome!

Completely agree with you on all counts! Charlie Brown is part of my childhood, and I adore the two (😉 ) Santa Clause movies. And Picard Stewart was an amazeballs Scrooge!

I love that you have a miniature train going around your CB tree, and I have to ask - is that glorious bit of Guinness behind Jack a bar sign or the side panel to a case? Either way, I'm jelly. 😊

Excellent entry, and good luck in the contest! Speaking of, I gotta get mine put together soon - it's gonna be tough with so many of my favorites already spoken for... 😝

Haha! Yes, that is indeed a Guinness plaque behind an awesome mug of Jack Skellington - two of my favourite things!

Thanks for stopping by! Looking forward to seeing what you put together. :)

Charlie Brown! So happy he made the list. That one totally warms my heart, as well. A Christmas Carol is a great one, as well. I need to re-watch that version of it. I know I've seen it, but it's been too long. I did enjoy the Santa Clause movies. Didn't even know there was a third, so that's probably why. ;) Good luck!

Yeah, there was no third. ;) I was torn between Santa Claus 2 and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Depends on my mood, really. I love the music in Nightmare.

Firstly @wwwiebe - your desk is clean and tidy. You should see mine! I've not seen Charlie Brown, but adore him. That particular version of A Christmas Carol sounds fantastic. All great actors. You do, know, of course about Richard E Grant's Southern African connections?

Actually, yes, I do know about his South Africa connections. I was smitten by his work in this movie, and further impressed when he appeared in Doctor Who, enough so that I made a point of finding out just who he is.

Nice overall choices.

The Polar Express is one I haven't watched in some time. Tim Santa Clause movies are certainly staples in my house hold around Christmas time and you can't go wrong with a classic like Charlie Brown.

Aha Charlie Brown, what a legend!! And I love that you actually have his tree on your desk. No need to clean it I say, can't disturb the tree haha!

Another Christmas Carol variant, that's 3 I've seen in this month's contest, should get to a gazillion in no time! It's a brilliant story though from Dickens, a pretty incredible tribute that so many have been made in its honour!

I haven't seen Santa Clause though (no-one has technically but I'm talking about the film here)! Sounds like another one of those warming Disney stories though!

Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest!
