My least favourite movies - entry to the @yourtop3 contest
Thanks to @yourtop3 competition for giving me something easy and ranty to post about, both of which suit my mood atm, anything to help me ignore the Justin drama, the health crises and the dual stock market and crypto crash.
Head down and whinge about something of little consequence, I say!
One 'hijacking history', one 'hijacking sci-fi' and one whole macho slug-fest series make up my top three - so there's a bit of a variety.
Pearl Harbor
I've no idea what induced us to go to the cinema to watch it in the first place, but this is the only movie I've ever actually walked out of.
It was the coke bottle scene in the hospital that finally did it - one of the 'band of army brothers' is giving blood for someone else, and the camera pans down the receptacle - a coke bottle - the WORST example of product placement ever, lining that evil Corporation to World War II and all the connotations of freedom and democracy, yadayada....
Independence Day
The President making a speech and then leading the troops into battle against an alien invasion. It's the most I've ever wanted someone to fuck off, until @justinsunsteemit came along.
Mclane
It hasn't actually been released yet, but it's basically Die Hard 6. Enough said. I really don't get the Die Hard series - I've seen several bits of them because the series has been on a perpetual loop on ITV2 for two decades - but they just seem to be about Bruce Willis playing Bruce Willis and killing the 'bad guys'.
Or am I missing something?

Life is too short for bad movies. I've not even see Pearl Harbour and I've not seen all the Die Hards. I think we've had enough 'one guy kills all the baddies' variations. I watched the first John Wick recently and it just got tedious. No idea what my own 3 picks would be as I concentrate on what I enjoy.
Better of on focussing on what you enjoy for sure! ATM I'm just thankful for anything that takes my mind off all the craziness out there!

Welcome back to the Top 3 contest @revisesociology! I think we all need a break from the goings on around here don't we and glad you found some respite with moaning about movies!
I have to admit I do like the Die Hard movies but for just mindless action rather than anything else if I can't be bothered to think too much! I can see why that scene in Pearl Harbour would ruin it, there's just no escape from commercialism in these movies it seems.

I'd have rather'd a best three, actually I think that may have been the first ever top 3 competition, best three movies.
I was stuck for a third TBH, although I'm not a Die Hard fan, it could have been any action series.
Yea we're trying out a variety of different topics at the moment but given the present situations, we thought channeling that rage into naff movies would be a good way to release the pressure a bit!
Haha, I felt the same way about any Chick Flick movies, I could have put a name in a hat and randomly pulled one out!

I think if we had an idea just how low this month would really sink we might have opted for a more positive theme, but either way we're happy to give people a distraction with the contest. I have to admit to watching Pearl Harbor, but it was pretty cheesy. Never really liked Independence Day either, even though it seemed to be pretty popular among the masses. And I'm with you on Die Hard, too. So 3/3 for me on your choices of crappy movies, haha!

My least favorite movie of all time is Pride & Prejudice. I know many people like it but I've never been able to finish it. There's just something about more than an hour of people analyzing things from a classist point of view that isn't able to keep me engaged, lol.

I've never understood the Die Hard thing either. It has a massive fan base which is just puzzling! The old argument of Christmas movie or no? is a big fat NO!!
Pearl Harbour is big budget garbage for the masses.
I confess I'm a sneaky ID fan. I don't think it is taking itself too seriously and is a bit of a laugh. It's corny as F... but I like it. Although, maybe I should listen to my teenage daughter who; after weeks of bugging finally watched it with me, said, "Are you serious dad! This is absolutely shocking!". I lose! Lol.
