Chapter II.6 - Involved

The EX-A2542 advanced in the orbit of the mysterious planet, Miles's plan seemed to work and the explorer ship approached, although very slowly, however, Miles was convinced that this would change soon and the speed would increase exponentially.

But the insurgent group led by Thomas Raynenger had other intentions, for them, the exploration had been a failure and they had to return to Terra-VI as soon as possible, otherwise, they would consume all the resources on board and would be stranded in space which would mean death. For Thomas, returning home meant recovering his wife.

Jacob realized the mistake he had made in informing Thomas of the fact that we could not approach our destiny, and he wanted to make amends, he came to me, told me what had happened and asked me to help him avoid the worst, and that's when I became involved in the whole issue of the revolt.

The coexistence between Jacob and Captain Miles had never been very good, there was constant friction between them and very uncomfortably I was always in the middle. Jacob couldn't go to the bridge to inform Miles about the revolt that was brewing, he wouldn't be taken seriously if Miles were to listen to him, but if I were to tell the captain what was happening, he would surely listen to me.

I was at the threshold of the bridge, I knew they were watching me from the inside, I heard a familiar voice from my earpiece "name, rank and what is the reason for entering the bridge".

"I'm Dr. Dwitt, I wish to speak to Captain Miles about an important matter."

"Negative, not authorized to..." for some reason, the voice was interrupted "Forward Dr. Dwitt will soon be received by the captain" I was finally allowed to enter the bridge.

After being briefly scanned by the reconnaissance device the gate was opened on the other side Miles waited for me with that cynical smile that characterizes him.

"Miss Dwitt, what a pleasant surprise to see you here, what brings you to my domain?" he asked me.

I looked to one side and the other observing who was close enough to hear what I would say, I came a little closer to Miles and spoke in a low voice "Captain, Raynenger is planning a revolt, at this moment they must be coming here to take the command post" I finally said.

"Ah, it's about that" he told me without being surprised "what a disappointment, I thought he wanted to see me for personal reasons" his annoying smile was bigger and more annoying than usual, but suddenly, Miles changed the tone and the smile vanished from his face "Miss Dwitt, I am already aware of Mr. Raynenger's plans and we are taking the necessary precautions, you have done well to come here and I suggest you stay on the bridge for safety".

At that time began to sound the alarms, "Captain apparently there is a fire in the cargo area" said with concern one of the technicians on board.
