Wednesday Walk on the Trail

This evening I decided to take a walk along the South River Trail which is only about 1/4 mile from my house. I forgot that here in Georgia, the temperature gets hotter in the late afternoon, early evening time. In California it cools down in the evening. So needless to say, I was not out there long.

The Panola Shoals Trailhead is a beautiful trail that is part of and funded by the Path Foundation. The portion that I walk is right at the South River. When I moved here, 10 years ago there wasn't any sand along the river. The water banked beyond the bushes in the picture and all the way across where the sand is now. There was only a small sandy part on the northeast side of the river.

This trail curves, turns, and goes all the way to the border of the Panola Mountain State Park. Round trip is 10 miles, I've only walked it once.

This is a little stream that is feed from the river.

A little pass the sign on the left, the trail starts to incline to where I would run out of breath. Also, you can expect to see deer, snakes, turtles, squirrels, opossums, and maybe a cow or two.

The trees that line the trail help to shade from the sun, but it is still hot. It is a very nice place to walk, with benches along the way for you to stop and rest.
