Wednesday Walk in Chincoteague

Riding my anticipation
Gives me reason to believe
The conveyer of which
Belongs to my soul
Once more

Today is #WednesdayWalk with @Tattoodjay. It was a challenge started by him to get people up and moving, all the while, looking for something to photograph. You can find his current post here! along with the ~~rules~~ guidelines to the challenge. It's all the rage! Everyone is doing it!

Oh, there was so much to see as we walked downtown, throughout the island, of no return. We lost our souls there, as we do every year. Taking in the pony sights. Walking through the Tidewater, over to the town, we spot so many pony messages, basking in the sun. Oh, to run wild and free! Let's just walk about and see what we will see.

And yes, this is exactly what the town is like 24/7/265 days a year, unless there is snow. Which is really never. Life is in the lane of peace and harmony, bikes making the most traffic unless it is the season of the tourist. Life is a gentle feeling as the subtle breeze that brushes across my face. Uncomplicated. And I love it.

Once in a lifetime or mayhap three
Your heart may stray toward a four-legged friend
Do not fight that natural-born love
That comes with caring for a newfound foal

Oh, for the love of all things pony. Pony baths, pony carousels...there is even a pony movie playing at the theatre. Even pony murals on every available space. And yet, it never seems like too much. I do so love to do a walkabout on this little island of Chincoteague. Life is good.

Misty. This movie shows the story of Chincoteague and her ponies. It plays every single day in the morning. Always plays to a crowd.

Simple fun. The laughter of the gull's echos in my ears. And I think to myself, what a wonderful life they have, running against the wind and playing in the sun.

A flower. There must always be a flower. This flower is dedicated to #WednesdayYellow #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra, who colors my world, every single day. Even Henry likes yellow flowers and he loves to go back and visit Chincoteague.

There is nothing quite like

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
