Walking on Sunshine

avatar

Do your thoughts run wild, do you think too much, if the sun comes out and brightens the day? Does it really matter, those inconsequential pieces of wrong logic running through your head? if you can close your eyes and imagine warm thoughts as you walk through life? Does it matter? Truly, does it?

Let's go for our #WednesdayWalk with @Tattoodjay. You can see his post here. It has all the rules guidelines so that you can join too! Get your shoes on! We are going now! Let's start here, in the front yard, where the flowers are basking in the extra nutrients the rainwater has provided.

The rain came down in buckets last night, accompanied by thunder and a side of lightening.

image.png

We all know how this story ends, right? These guys are about a one minute walk from my house. My housing area has few farms surrounding it and it always makes for a nice view when you get too much city in your eyes. Ah! The best of both worlds. I cut through the pasture because there is no bull there today! Hehe.

Otherwise, it is the long way for me!

walk 5.jpg

Oh, yes. My Tree of Life. You know this one and several others. I post them weekly, as I pass them as I go for my walk. Close to my home. I love the huge trees surrounding my life. Oh, hug a tree today and embrace its size. I think of how this mighty oak was but a tiny acorn once upon a time. Nature never ceases to amaze me. They do their due diligence and give off oxygen, all the while making our earth a more beautiful place.

I love my neighborhood, as most people do. When I think about moving, I wonder if I will find this kind of peace surrounding me? Will I want to spend hours meandering about? Will I find new cows to talk to? More importantly, can I lose the bull?

Tell me
Tell me
Tell me, do.

trees 8.jpg

It is a short walk through the woods as I make my way to the Civil War Battlefield. Virginia is littered with battlefields and historical landmarks. I love living here where it is steeped in history and always has something going on.

I have never felt at a loss for culture nor the farming community. You can have both within minutes of any city here. Literally. It is one of the redeeming things this area gives you - after taking in the fact that the traffic is normally horrific.

You can't have everything. But you can have a #WednesdayWalk!

20180525_093432.jpg

This fencing surrounds most of the Civil War Battlefields and was used in that time frame. You will see it used throughout Virginia, Maryland and some parts of Pennsylvania. I haven't noted any in Ohio, but, somehow, I am sure there is some.

I was never really fond of its look, however, I have come to appreciate its significance as part of a historical landmark of a time. I guess it is all in how you perceive things.

20180526_074148.jpg

I am enjoying the profuse blooming of these roses. The rain and the cooler temperatures last week surely gave these beauties a boost. Breathe in that aroma and see if it doesn't transport you to heaven. Oh, yes.

Walk 3.jpg

Don't forget to look up! You might miss the best part of your day!

Day.jpg

Thank you so much for joining me on my #WednesdayWalk. I had a wonderful time showing off what makes my day in this area. There is so much to see, so much to do and truly remarkable people to do it with. Life is good. Embrace it!

Love is all around you!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again. And remember always- kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Walking n Sunshine what a greta title and song I have it in my head now as I type this :)
How cool its a short walk to go through the pasture and being a country scene especially when no Bulls are there, always love your tree shots and all those lush greens,
And then you throw in that wickedly cool Olde style fence i have to love this post

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :) thanks for this great post and being an active member and super Guide of @steemusa !tip

Oh yes! I'd loved that song and now I have been singing it all day. I guess there could be worse things.

This neighborhood that we have sure does have a lot of redeeming factors that you don't get everywhere, especially being close to the city and close to the farmers. So I get culture and fresh eggs. You can't beat that with a stick. Oh yeah! There is that little fact about the bull being in town occasionally. LOL I have learned to check and recheck before I take that shortcut.

The fence comes from the Civil War days and that's how they did their fencing. I am glad that you enjoyed the post and as always tell him that it's my pleasure to do a Wednesday walk.

Thank you for being a great Guide for #SteemUSA!

Those are your neighborhoods, I'd never say I'm in Washington DC (are they there?) ... and you want to change the house?

Yes! This is my neighborhood and I do love it. It may well be that I stay here, but, weighing my options. I am not in a rush to move, just keeping that thought alive for a few.

Washington, DC is only city right in the District. We used to live downtown and ten minutes away was a farm where I got eggs and fresh milk. :) That is why I say the best of both worlds. Now, it is a little bit longer because of traffic, but, still you can have the good life close to it.

So, that is not a bad thing.

Thanks for stopping by and saying hello, leaving your always kind words behind!

Nice poem. I love photographing rural spaces and animals. Cows are a favorite subject. I'm not sure why… maybe it's those big cow eyes. :D

Thank you so much! Photographing rural places is really fun, but the city is closer to me for the most part except for these cows and this field. Cows are one of my favorite subjects and I am not sure why but it could have to do with those big cow eyes they give you. LOL

Thank you so much my lovely lady for you're always beautiful words and thoughts. I do love where I am living because it is the best of both worlds have a Washington DC so close and having fresh eggs right down the street. So one could say that it is the perfect place.

You are more than welcome and don't worry about finding the comment to thank me because you are doing it here and I don't count comments. Your thoughtful words are more than enough. I am very fortunate to live this close to Nature and have the city at my disposal. It is the best of both worlds and I do know how lucky I am.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and say hello and leaving your lovely words behind. I wish you lovely Thursday as it will probably be Thursday when you read this!

Oh, well, I certainly hope that your tooth feels better soon! Have you tried any natural remedies? I have used a clove before. It acts as a natural anesthetic.

Gently chew a whole clove to release its oil(not with the affected tooth!) After that, hold in place against the affected tooth for up to 30 minutes. You should feel a lot better for a while. Also, an ice pack if it is swollen.

I hope this helps, even a little. If you don't have cloves, swish salt and warm water in your mouth.

I wish you some peace with your tooth. God Bless. xoxo

Nope, haven´t tried clove yet... sounds a good remedy! Thank you so much for your advice, I went to the dentist yesterday and she inserted a sort of anesthesia and antibiotic in the tooth. I think I would need to have it pulled-out because I always get migraine. Glad to have talked to you...

Oh!! That sounds painful!! I hope it gets better soon! There is nothing worse than a toothache. I think I would rather give birth. ;)

Hope you feel better soon! If you go to the store they also have clove oil!

Well it is that time of year, isn't it? And yes, sunny photos go with the territory! I prefer my dose of sunshine and happiness to be high so I never run out! What is this with the monsoons up there? Keep them up in Michigan! To be fair, we had rain last night but at least it was dark and it was gone by the time the morning came.

I hope you're having a great day! Thanks for coming over and say goodbye and leaving those awesome words behind!

Do you know how delightful to come across your comment? I just love reading them because they are always so uplifting and happy. Thank you for that and thank you for taking the time in the effort to come over here and leave me those wonderful words.

Cameras nowadays are just so precise aren't they? The picture with the tree is actually from my cell phone and those amazed me more than the camera because the detail on them is so exquisite. It's true it is our little piece of heaven and I am not so sure that I am ready to leave it on the if the job calls, you know I will go.

Thank you, always for such a wonderful comment and truly heartfelt words. As always I wish you a most wonderful night at the birdhouse. I just love that expression. I tell everybody I know about the bird house.

Nice walking photos! I like the cow and tree one a lot. Those fences are an interesting design and have a lot more character than the barbed wire you see a lot. It has been slightly raining most of the day over here so I will not be doing much walking. At least my back is feeling much better.

Thank you so much! Wednesday walk is kind of a fun post to do because you can take it anywhere you want to go. I am always taking pictures of trees, usually with the long look up. It gets me a totally different perspective. The cows are about 1 minute away from my house and you wouldn't even know that they're there unless you walk up a certain Street and there they are at the end. Of course they are not part of the housing but one of their Gates is it the end of the street. I like having that kind of Nature close to me. The fencing is kind of interesting and it is how they used to build during the Civil War. I used to not be a big fan of it but I can see how useful it would be.

Sorry to hear about all the rain and we had some also but it was at night so it didn't really affect me. I'm glad your back is feeling better but I still think that you need to be not swinging for a couple days. Just my thoughts. Be well my friend and have a great rest of your day!

Your photos and words are beautiful, Denise. ♥️ 🌺 You will have a hard time finding another neighbourhood like this one with nature at your fingertips.
Even though I was raised on a farm, I am scared of the bull and would not go near the pasture if one was there.
It saddens me to see the battlefields of the civil war.
I live in Canada but used to have dreams and some visions of the civil war soldiers. I seemed to be in Richmond in the dreams. ( never been there in this lifetime). Some soldiers were injured and others on horseback. Upon waking I was confused by the different hats they wore. The injured wore the smaller rounded peaked hat and others the wider brimmed Slough hat.

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comment, Jo. I know that I'll have a hard time finding another neighborhood like this but believe it or not they are not that hard to come by. Throughout the years, the family has had to move because of work stand we have been in the fortunate situation of having been blessed with an outstanding neighborhood every single place we have ever gone in this world. Trust me, I do not take that for granted at all.

I was not raised on a farm but my father's relatives all have cows and farms and I should know better then to cut across a field with a bull in it. That only happened one time and I Live to Tell.

I too I'm saddened by all the battlefields and cemeteries and everything to do with the Civil War because more than anything that's your own people against your own people. How sad is that? That is very interesting that you had dreams and visions of the Civil War soldiers. Richmond isn't that far from where I live however up here is where the major Battlefield are. I went to a reenactment in Gettysburg and I was appalled that dire that entire situation was. There was a lot of people injured and as a matter of fact one of the houses that I'm over on the Eastern Seaport of Virginia is right next door to where they took over the house and made a civil war hospital out of it. Right next door, my house was used as housing. I didn't know that when I bought the house but the house has some interesting things in it such as secret rooms and hiding places that are not obvious. I was told that the Underground Railroad went through this town. I'm still interested in your dreams because how on Earth what you know and I looked up the Civil War hats and I don't see anything like that but you should Google it and see what you think. As always you really bring home the most awesome comments. So thank you and have a most blessed night.

Thanks Denise. Not to belabor the dreams but this is an example of the hats. The guys in the hats to the left wore the blue uniforms and many were wounded.
The wider hats to the right were wore by men on horseback in the dreams. They had on sort of a beige or greyish uniform.

Hi Jo! These are exactly what I was looking at when I told you to Google it because I saw them but I didn't have enough time to go into explanation last night. I'm sorry for that yes! There were dozens of hats and I didn't want to send a million pictures I was pretty sure this is what you were seeing in your dream. I don't think I've ever known anybody that can picture something like that they'd never seen. In my opinion, that is very remarkable and I am wondering how it feels to dream about events like that that are so Real to you? I am glad that you said something to me because it was interesting to go back and look at all the different hats the Civil War produced. Thanks again and you'll have to tell me more about these dreams. I am utterly fascinated!

I never knew what my role was in the dreams, Denise. Maybe I was helping to photograph the soldiers. It would have been difficult at the time to carry all the equipment needed.
Although I seemed to be there and saw the terrible condition the soldiers in the smaller peaked hats were in, I didn’t know whether I was male or female.
I haven’t had the dreams for years but they always stay with me.
The dreams haunted me and I went to a woman who was a psychic and she said she saw me coming up over a hill with a flag.
At one time, I wanted to go to Virginia Beach to the Edgar Cayce Museum and then the dreams make me think Richmond or Gettysburg would be interesting to visit.
Strange but my brother had visited the area.
Have a blessed day! ♥️

I have been to both, mostly because they are not too far from me and also because I am interested in history.

Gettysburg was most interesting when they had the reenactment, including the camp for the soldiers and some families but, I have to admit, at times it was bone-chilling to me.

The Civil War itself and all the horror it brought to this country, families against families, tragically babies being sent to war... it brought it all to reality.

So, I can only imagine what the dreams did. Thank you for sharing that with me, and I hope you have a most wonderful day, my friend.

Stay blessed!

And I so love this #WednesdayWalk of yours, Denise. I miss these cows, I think I haven't seen them for quite a while in your posts. Hahaha. 😂 Or maybe because I have been away for so long. I don't know. But I remember the lovely trees. I guess it is the same tree with vines growing on them. Or maybe its another tree. Hahaha! 😂🤣

I love the fact that you have the best of both worlds--city as well as nature! Both are at your disposal. Can anyone be more fortunate?!? Lol. 😂

Thank you for taking us for a walk. Have a lovely evening.

Thank you so much! I know I have not been putting the cows in lately and I'm not sure why I accept that I have wandered off another directions. LOL I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with how long you have been gone, but the trees. It is different than the one with the vines but they are the same kind of tree and there are lots of big ones around here. Maybe they're Brothers or at the very least, cousins.

Very fortunate to have the best of both worlds, nature and culture. I am not sure how we get so lucky but I can tell you that we take advantage of it. Anipryl hunt Saturday night and Polo on Sunday night. How many people can say that? If you think that I don't know how lucky I am, don't fool yourself. I am extremely fortunate and I am grateful for it every single day.

Thank you for coming with me on my walk! How it looks wonderful day!

Guilty as charged! I do love it here and it's mostly because it's the best of both worlds when you have the city at your disposal and you have fresh eggs not too far down the street. Okay maybe a mile. So yes. I cannot believe that you don't miss it here although if you hate traffic then I know exactly why you moved.

I actually did not realize that Georgia had fences like that too but I guess it makes sense being there Civil War battlefields down there also oh, so it must be where battles were held or something like that because that's the only place I have seen them. I grew up in eastern Ohio and I have never seen that style of fencing anywhere in Ohio. Spent a lot of time in Lexington, Ky too and have not seen it there, of course in Lexington you mostly see old stone walls and white painted fences.

I have to agree with you because I have never seen any in Ohio has I said up in my post and I think that they are relegated to wear major Civil War battles were fought. I'm not sure about that but now you have spurred my interest and I'm going to look it up. My daughter's is in school in Danville Kentucky called Centre, which is close to Lexington so I have spent a fair amount of time there and I have to agree with you again that the only thing I ever saw there were those beautiful white painted fences that seemed to go on for miles and a few stone walls. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your comment. It is most appreciated and as always I wish you a very nice day.

Always too many thoughts. My brain wants me to get out 14 pieces of content of which it’s willing to work with me on zero of them so far! Summer was far too nice to want spend too much of it in doors.

Around here we have some what I believe are alpacas. No cutting into that field to walk though it the owners are a bit protective. Wish I had my camera with me when there where babies it was amazing to see a while back!

Definitely! There are always too many thoughts running through our heads. If I can get out one piece of content a day, I consider myself lucky. Summer is just no time to be posting. LOL

I love alpacas! Or more oh, they are so awesome looking at that they catch my attention. I wouldn't be cutting through any field of theirs although they seem pretty laid-back, I don't trust anybody who seems that laid back. I have actually never seen a baby alpaca and hope that maybe next year you can catch one. That would be awesome. And blog Worthy!

Thank you for stopping by and saying hello and leaving you're always wonderful comments behind. I also want to thank you for your wonderful support. I hope you have a most wonderful day.

I can certainly understand why you love your neighbourhood @dswigle The picturesque scenery so close to the city and I love your quote, "You can't have everything. But you can have a #WednesdayWalk!" Nice one!

Thank you and it is very nice and I do love it. The beauty of it being so close to the city and having farm so close to us that I can eggs in the morning if I choose.

I know it's silly but hey it was true you can't have everything but you can have a Wednesday walk. LOL I'm glad that you buy into my ridiculousness. Actually it's just that I always feel why should we be so serious? Life is too short to not have fun. Love you lots!

The reason I identify with your lightheartedness is the fact that I too, like to see the funny side of things. There is way too much negativity out there, so people like you and I have an obligation to balance things out a bit. And if no-one else is amused, then at least the two of us are smiling. 😊 😊

Love you too and the many rays of sunshine you bring to this platform. 😍

This is awesome! I grew up on a farm, and I wonder how being close to the sounds of traffic affect the cows in the pastures. It must be a wonderful thing to have them so close though, considering where you live. The roses are so beautiful!

My father's relatives are farming people and I really don't see much difference between those out in the middle of nowhere and these cows. They seem unaffected and very calm, chewing their way through the fields at a leisurely speed. Perhaps because traffic has built up over time isn't they were not plopped right into it? Also I am not right on top of the City, but close enough to make it very convenient. Interesting now that you bring that up as I really haven't thought too much about it because it has always been. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop over and say hello, leaving your nice words behind. That's always, have a most wonderful day!

Best of both worlds, how lucky you are close enough to get groceries and other homely requirements, far enough to feel like you living on a farm!

Happy smiling faces of flowers greeting you after showers, no bull among the cows, great break into the wooded area....

All in all a wonderful walk with you again today Denise under an amazing blue sky.

I am, without a doubt one of the most fortunate people ever. I love having Washington DC at my fingertips and also fresh eggs from the farmers. I am far enough to be out of the traffic but close enough but I can enjoy plays and all the wonderful things that go on in the city.

Oh, yes! I get greeted with happy faces, especially after a refreshing rain. I certainly was feeling like I was walking on sunshine today. Thank you so much for stopping by and saying hello and leaving your kind words behind. It is always appreciated. As always I wish you a most wonderful day!

Oh, how I love cows. How great that you have the best of both worlds and can enjoy a forest too, full of majestic trees to love on. I hope you find a home where you can still enjoy everything you love in your own backyard.

Aren't they the sweetest? Those big eyes, looking at me as I stick a big honking lens in their face. It is still not decided about staying here although my yard is not as big as I would like!

But, I do love my neighborhood!

Have a great day, my beautiful friend! Steemin on!

I love having the best of both worlds and there is a chance I will stay right here, after weighing all the odds.

Thank you for the visit! xoxo

Crooked fence! Unlike you, I love them. Not fun I suppose if you have to mow around them, but let some goats at it and you'll be fine.
That is an especially splendid pix of your tree of life today.
And THAT SKY!

Thank goodness that is not my fence!!! It belongs to the Civil War Battlefield and that is the way they made them years ago.

Thank you. He is looking rather dapper today, isn't he? :)

Thank you so much!!!

Hello my Dear Denisse..............you know we have Oak tree front of our house, but its still young compare the one on your photo. I know they can grow very tall, we had them in Slovakia too. They are beautiful trees and I love that photo including the rest of your stunning shots.

And then, there are the sweet words that only you know how to put together so magically 🌸💖🌸

Also, you are so right about the connection between nature and the city. We have the same here, but also right about the traffic! Insanity, lol.

Thank you, Dear Lena!!! Oh, I hope it is not close to the house! They grow fast after about 10 years. They are really beautiful trees and I do remember that Slovakia had them.

You are always so kind to leave the sweetest replies.

Oh, yes!!! The insanity of it all!!! :) As always, a great day to you!
