RE: Help Venezuela after HF 21

Some questions arise when reading this post.

Are the authors curated before being added into the autovoter? Are they being monitored by someone so the autovotes don't get abused which they often tend to do after some time.

These curation rewards will be reinvested 100% into powering up the account.

Who gets to keep these rewards? Would you consider donating part of the curation rewards (which are now 50% of the upvotes) to the people you autovote if all the account is doing is autovoting without much manual work/time being put behind it while asking for delegations. It can quickly be considered as selfish and someone could really quickly copy what you are doing, undercut you by 90% and overshadow your account.

Lastly, other than the content they provide, are there any other plans for the authors the project supports to give back to the Steem network in the form of marketing or word of mouth to grow the network?

I'd be interested to delegate once I know more, thanks.

Great work, great comment, +1 here as well.

Clean model, well explained, this could be a template we use all around the world where people need help.
VZ is a canary in the coal mine for the entire region, in some ways the world, I'd like to see this working.

Hi @acidyo,
Thanks a lot for your comment. I will gladly try to answer your questions.

I'm following all the authors that are in the program. I select them according to the quality of their work and also according to their stamina. All the users have been on steem for at least 3 months when I took them into the program. I check their posts regularly and often interact with them. I'm amazed at the quality of the work that they are doing day in, day out. Of course there were also some lower quality posts but I never felt the need to criticise something. Many of the authors of the program are University professors or very qualified people and their posts reflect their education.

Having visited Venezuela 25 years ago and seeing what the country has become, I just wanted to help as many people as possible. Sending steem today is nice and well but what about tomorrow?

I wanted to create something that helps every day for as long as possible. I realised that with steem and the upvotes it was possible to help in such a sustainable manner.

Why powering up and what happens to curation rewards?

The more SP on the account, the higher the upvotes and the more people can be taken into the program. We have increased the number of beneficiaires successively from 8 to 23. The curation rewards are reinvested in SP constantly. We started with 750 SP and have now around 1350 SP.

There is no plan to stop this program and hopefully it will go on for a very long time. So the SP will stay on this account and they will contribute to make everybodys upvotes more meaningful. Distributing the SP to the authors would however kill the program and could only be considered if the program is definitively stopped.

As you said very accurately the program doesn't need much work/time. This is the magic of steem again. The less work/time is necessary the more energy and value goes into the real help.

someone could really quickly copy what you are doing, undercut you by 90% and overshadow your account.

I believe that this program can be copied very easily and I really hope that some other people might do it. If other people want to copy it and spread help, I believe that the beneficiaires won't complain and I don't see how it would work against this program.

How delegations matter

The delegations help in the short term to increase the immediate vote value. Thanks to curation rewards they also help in the long term to bulid up the SP of the account. So when delegations stop, there might still be enough SP around to continue to give meaningful upvotes.

Lastly, other than the content they provide, are there any other plans for the authors the project supports to give back to the Steem network in the form of marketing or word of mouth to grow the network?

When I look at the people who have been in this program from the very beginning, many of them have developed quite sensible quantities of SP. Considering that they need a lot of Steem for daily needs, I think that this is quite remarquable. With SP they are getting the tools that will allow them to help others.

I hope I could answer your questions ;-)

Best regards,
Achim

The less work/time is necessary the more energy and value goes into the real help.

What's the real help?

Distributing the SP to the authors would however kill the program and could only be considered if the program is definitively stopped.

I don't see how it would kill the program, most of your voting power and rewards is coming from the delegations, if you would take a lower cut to "grow the account" maybe more people would delegate and you would still grow the account faster and just own up to that being your fee for running the program instead of "it's gonna be constantly powered up until someday when it stops it will "maybe" be given away".

Not to sound rude but this does not sound like it has the best intentions behind it. You aren't even delegating any of your own stake to it but instead delegating 400 SP to smartsteem while making 50% from this. Sorry but it's hard not to judge that activity when it comes to something like this.

Anyway, didn't wanna just put you in the spot but wanted to explain how I think this could be improved to possibly help the authors grow faster or earn more Steem, especially after HF21 which this post is about where curation is now 50% it does not seem fair to go to autovotes.

Just my opinion. Thanks for your response/time.

What's the real help?

For people who used to get posts with 0.01$ value, a regular big upvote can make a difference I believe.

Not to sound rude

I can't help feeling a little bit of rudeness here ;-). On the other hand I also understand you. I've been dealing with cryptos for 4 years and I have witnessed scams of any sorts. I won't try to convince you that I'm legit ;-).

I'm very thankful for your feed-back. Because when the program started there were almost no curation rewards. They grew when some big delegations came in and we will see how it will pan out after HF21. My idea has always been to grow the account as much as possible as to be able to provide bigger upvotes and to support more people. But in the light of HF21 with 50/50 rewards, your suggestion is certainly worth to be contemplated.

Best regards,
Achim

Hi, I hope you are very well, I am one of the program's winners, I give you my point of view, the donations made to Venezuelans on steem or sbd all go directly to Bs.

Particularly I think it is better than account @ help.venezuela cresca in sp and vote us significantly, and someone is telling you that at this moment I would be immensely happy to receive donations since I emigrate from Venezuela and I still can't get a job, I'm about to finish my savings in fiat and then sadly The savings will come in cryptos, there is a saying "Give a fish to a man and you will give him food for one day, teach him to fish and you will feed him for the rest of his life" I know Venezuelans who need to exert themselves in publishing if they are not looking for Donations for the crisis in our country.

Hi @hendersonp,
Thank you very much for your comment. I've been reading your latest post about trying to find a job in Sao Paulo. It seems to be quite problematic without prior experience.

I hope you will have some luck soon and find a way to get an income without having to use your cryptos.

Is life in Brasil much more expensive than in Venezuela? Could you manage to live with an income from Steem?

Best regards,
Achim

Hi how are you, if it is difficult and also the language because although I understand it well it is difficult for me to communicate and in most of the jobs it is essential that I communicate well with the clients.
Brazil is much more expensive, remember that in Venezuela one pays absurdly cheap services, also rents there are very cheap, here in Brazil the rents are expensive and the services too, the only thing that is cheaper than in Venezuela is the food, the Remember that the problem in Venezuela is that salaries are very low and services work very poorly, here with two days of salary you eat more than a week.

The truth unless you win enough crypts I don't think you can live, at least from Steemit I see it almost impossible

Hi my friend,

It's another reality in Brasil I believe. The important thing is not to loose hope. Every day your Portugese will become better and you will find some work to start.
Maybe you could try to figure out if there is a brasilian community here on steem and see whether somebody is from Sao Paoulo and has connections?

Good luck to you and your wife!

Best regards,
Achim
