Self-Made Vegan Milk - Healthy, Simple and Delicious

(Edited)

I am currently experimenting with some new recipes and nut milk can be a great way to add the certain creaminess to soups, zoodle sauces or salad dressings.

Since I was never a big fan of processed plantbased milk products which often have additional ingredients like sugar or preservatives, I prefer to make my own. For this, you only need a blender and a nut bag.

Almond Milk Recipe

  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 3/4 cup filtered water
  1. Soak 1/2 cup almonds in water over night.
  2. Rinse the almonds.
  3. Blend the almonds together with the 3/4 cup filtered water.
  4. Put the mixture into your nutmeg and press out the liquid.

Since I used the milk for sauces and such, I was going for a quite thick texture in this recipe. But you can easily adapt it to your wishes and add more water.

The leftover pulp can still be used for something great, I usually make bliss balls out of it. Mixed with some dried fruits, maybe cinnamon or cacao this makes a very delicious raw treat for family and friends, or just for yourself!

And it's not just almond milk you can easily make by yourself. There is walnut milk, hazelnut milk or maybe you want to go for some cashew milk. My personal favourite is definitely coconut milk made out of mature coconut meat - either fresh, frozen or shredded.

Have you made your own milk before? What is your favorite mixture?

Stay curious and enjoy your day!

I was never a fan of drinking milk just by itself, but as a base for sauces and dressings this is just phenomenal!

We prefer to crunch and munch our nuts for full usage of their amazingness, especially given that quality ORGANIC nuts are really expensive. Living in Thailand, we use coconut cream for creaminess. Or a little rice starch in soups etc does the trick too.

I totally get that. The best milk-like cream for me is the flesh of young coconuts, blended up. Super affordable and even a common by-product when drinking a coconut in the tropics, healthy and so delicious!

You’ve been visited by @trucklife-family on behalf of Natural Medicine.
I am so lucky to have Almond trees growing on the land I live on and nothing compares to making your own nut milk.I am loving hemp milk at the moment, I can buy the seeds locally so that is great. Thank you for showing us how easy it is to make your own nut milk and so much more nutritious too.

Wow, that's so cool. Making the milk out of your home-grown almonds is certainly next level. Yes, I bet hemp seed milk must be so delicious - haven't tried yet though.

I never have, though I have always had vegan milk. I think I always see nuts as expensive and Coco Quench is so easy. I am addicted to roast almonds right now. I think I will try this over the holidays though...

Coconut milk is my favourite, especially when made out of the meat of fresh young coconuts - so good.

Great, let me know how you like it. ;)
