Steem Blacklist Notifier 1.0.9 - Now supports

in utopian-io •  last year  (edited)

Version 1.0.9 of the Steem Blacklist Notifier Chrome Extension is live in the Chrome Web Store.

This version requires removing the old version and installing the latest from the link above.

What is the Steem Blacklist Notifier?

The Steem Blacklist Notifier is a Chrome extension targetting abuse fighters and curators to allow them to easily know when a user is on a Global Blacklist.

The Chrome extension queries my Global Blacklist API and provides a handy but unintrusive pop-up notification when visiting a profile, post, or comment pages of users who are on any of the blacklists supported by the Global Blacklist API.

The pop-up will display all blacklists the user is on and fades away in around five seconds.

What's new?

Only one change was included in the 1.0.9 release of the Steem Blacklist Notifier.

I added support for which is the new SCOT based project by @yabapmatt, @aggroed, @eonwarped.

Version 1.0.8 was a bug fix release and was not announced.

If you visit a user profile or post on you will be notified if a user is on any of the supported blacklists.

What blacklists are supported?

  • BuildAWhale
  • SteemCleaners
  • Utopian-IO
  • Redeemer
  • MinnowBooster
  • Actifit
  • Oracle-D
  • SmartSteem (new)

More blacklists will be added as they become available.

Why use the Steem Blacklist Notifier?

The main purpose of the Steem Blacklist Notifier is to allow abuse fighters such as myself, Steem Cleaners, Jaguar Force, and Steem Flag Rewards to easily know when a user is on a blacklist. It also helps curators easily know if a user they may potentially be curating is on a blacklist.

The unintrusive pop-up provides quick feedback when visiting blacklisted users content quickly warning users prior to engaging.

You need to remove the old extension and use this link to install 1.0.9.

I switched publishing accounts due to a clerical error on the Google Dev fee and I was able to finally remove the old 1.0.3 duplicate version that was left stranded as a result.

Want your blacklist featured in the plugin?

If you want your blacklist featured, contact @themarkymark on Discord or and I can discuss what is needed. I do not require any form of payment for this service but I do need to ensure the blacklist is compatible and can be efficiently integrated.

Don't have a blacklist for your community?

I would be happy to discuss this with you and help you get one setup. You can reach me on Discord or Steemit Chat. As with featuring a blacklist in the Global Blacklist API, I provide this service free of charge.

The Global Blacklist API is an interface for Steem related projects and services to be able to query multiple blacklist projects to identify bad actors.

Howdy @themarkymark,

You were the impetus for me to finally claim my PALcoin airdrop. I checked up on papaghanda and, sure enough, works like a charm!

Oh, bit of a tangent but would like to make you aware of an account @isb that may merit a look. Appears to be an alt of @smithgold which was blacklisted on @steemcleaners.

Noticed an incoming tx of Steem early in the account history. Some of it may meander into disagreement of rewards but others may be more clear cut. Considering the ties of the accounts, the account is definitely suspect.

It just goes to show the relative ease for these abusers to switch to another account to boost low quality content. I just confirmed the tie to a previously blacklisted account using your tool which is why I brought it up.

Anyways, I thank you for continuing to run this tool. Do you have any prospects for additional features to be added? Perhaps, a mechanism for users to pull up the POC information for each respective blacklist owner could be helpful. That way, when users find an abuse account in the wild, they will know the parties to contact. Think that would be pretty nifty and empowering to the abuse fighter.

Thanks Anthony.

I will have a look at the account.

I do want to add a “report” functionality at some point.

Thank you for your review, @anthonyadavisii! Keep up the good work!
