AquaDroid

Introduction

AquaDroid is an open-source app that helps users track, monitor and improves water intake habit by reminding them to take water at regular intervals until the body required target is met. It makes use of some info like weight, wake-up time, sleep time and daily workout time to determine the amount of water intake the user requires.

This description above is basically what the app is about. I've tried out the app and wrote a detailed review about it, you can check it out here.

Components

After downloading and trying out the app, I found it interesting that it does the job it was built for making use of the necessary data required such as weight, user daily active time, gender and daily workout duration. This to a reasonable extent is valid but can be improved upon and made more accurate and better.

In order to improve the app, I'm suggesting that the app be equipped with "Ability to input user location temperature (weather condition)". So that the app can

Proposal Description

I earlier mentioned that this app apart from reminding you to drink water also monitors your water intake and most importantly help calculate the right amount of water you need. The calculation is done by taking some necessary factors into consideration. But the temperature of the day which is an important factor in the level of body dehydration was left out.

This is an important factor in determining the amount of water intake required by a person. This is so because people often require to take a lot of water on a hot and sunny day, while they often take less water on cool and humid days. So I believe this factor should also be considered by any water intake determining app.

So, I'm suggesting that "Ability to input temperature" should be introduced to the app, which users can either input either manually or the app could be programmed to obtain it automatically.

This can be implemented by providing a space for users where they can input their temperature for the day by including the option in the "Edit Your Info" options in the 'Settings' page. Such data info can be gotten from various data forecast apps available.

Another way of implementing this is to program the app to obtain it automatically. But that could be really hard to implement by the PO at the moment and will also request for extra permissions to function that way which some users might not be comfortable with. For this reason, this report won't cover that.

Mockups / Examples

Below are pictorial illustrations of how the features I recommend can be implemented by the Developer.

This is how the app currently looks like without the featureScreenshot_20190712170529.png

This is a picture showing how the "Select, Copy and Paste" feature can be implemented in the appPicsArt_071205.19.34.png

Benefits

The main benefit of the suggested feature is that it will enable and ensure that the app's water intake calculations and target recommendations are more accurate. Since the motive behind the creation of this app is to ensure that users drink enough water to stay hydrated, recommending the same amount of water fro both humid and hot days by the app will void that idea, but implementing this idea will fix that.

Conclusion

To conclude, Implementing this feature will go a long way to improve the application. It will increase user experience positively, thereby increasing the user base of the AquaDroid app.
I hope, App developer implements this feature very soon.

Thank You.
