Unsung Heroes: The Defendant for the Under Privileged Aboriginals

Meet Vincent, the heartbeat of the sea side aboriginal outreach in the State of Selangor. His heart was touched in 2013 when he saw the under privileged villagers who are all small time fishermen were taken for granted by middlemen by their limited knowledge and tools for good catchments.

Most of the children in this village are not schooled and the families are not exposed with the knowledge of the importance of education for the next generation; therefore many of them were illiterate or with very basic knowledge, enough just to get by but bounded in poverty and unable to thrive.

Gambling was also an issue with the wrong influences by “the people from the city”, with an average monthly wage of barely touching MYR600 (USD 146), these folks to sometimes have hardly anything by the end of the month.
But thanks be to God for the heart of this man, who never give up throughout the years and he started partnering with our Food Bank since 2015. There are currently 20 families who are assisted by the Food Bank.

Now many of the (overage for public school) children there at least get to learn to read and write at Sunday schools there, and the families who are now following Jesus are much happier and bad addictions have been greatly reduced.

Whenever the Food Bank has anything extra, such as almond milk or dried spaghetti exchanged by other outreaches, we will pack extra for them.

With Sweetly Bakery’s weekly provision of extra bread, LK Fresh Egg’s constant monthly support and @capduagajah is now stepping in to help every quarter, the villagers have many options of food resources and children have more opportunity to study more instead of going out to the sea for minimal catchment. Now there are 5% of the kids who are of age to study are able to go to school.

Vincent’s ultimate goal is to continue to improve these families’ standard of living through economy empowerment. So far we managed to get some outdoor motors for their boat and better nettings that will allow the fishermen to go further out to the Straits of Malacca for better catchments. He will continue to try to talk to the families to allow their kids to be learned individuals for more opportunities for different careers in the future to sustain the family.
