Are we God's children?

What I understand from this Brother Eli's video:

We are not forced to be God's children. We need to follow a process to become God's children. Mt. 5:44-45 says we have to learn the virtue of showing love even to our enemies. In other words, we have to be selfless, and work for the good of others.

And whether we acknowledge the power of God or not, the power of God remains supreme, and will always prevail.

For us to be the children of God according to Luke 6:35, we have to love our enemies and be selfless, and doers of good things.

Besides, we have to trust God and lean not on our own understanding according to Prov. 3:5. And Lk. 9:23 admonishes us to deny ourselves and follow God.
