Whirling Dervishes - Semazenler

Every 17th of December, the night of Mevlana's death, people from all around the world gather at the Mevlana Mausoleum to celebrate Seb-i Arus. To celebrate his reunion with his beloved, with his divine.

According to the Mevlana's teachings, human beings born twice. First one is from their mothers, as all we know, second one is from their own bodies. This is a spiritual born and Dervishes believe that this is the real one.

That's why the day of Mevlana's death is a celebration day instead of memorial. Celebration of his rebirth.

Her 17 Aralık gecesi, Şeb-i Arus kutlamalarında, dünyanın her yerinden insanlar Mevlana Türbesi'nde buluşurlar. Mevlana'nın sevgilisiyle, ilahi olanla kavuşmasını kutlarlar.

Mevlana'nın öğretilerine göre insanlar iki defa doğarlar. Birincisi annelerinden, diğeri ise kendi bedenlerinden. Bu ruhani bir doğumdur. Dervişler ikinci doğumun gerçek olduğuna inanırlar.

Bu nedenledir ki Mevlana'nın ölüm günü bir anma değil kutlama günüdür. Mevlana'nın yeniden doğumunun günüdür.
