2020 Australian Kangaroo

avatar

Kangaroos are indigenous to Australia, and there are more kangaroos in Australia than there are Australian people.

Though an Australian Kangaroo bullion coin was available from the Perth Mint dating back to 1990, the silver version of the coin was not available until 2015 when the first-ever 2016-dated Silver Kangaroo debuted with .9999 pure silver content.

2020 Australian 1 oz Silver Kangaroo Coin (BU)

A group of kangaroos is called a mob. A male is a boomer and a female is a jill. Babies are referred to as joeys. Kangaroos are marsupials, that is, they carry their young in a pouch.

Very nice coin.

My guess for the next coin will be it is a dog. I feel like it will be an animal and I feel it won't be out of place.

This coin is underrated!
A dog is an animal alright. And you are right, it won't be out of place!

The Dog (狗) is eleventh of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar.
The Perth Mint does the Zodiac Calendar.

@fat-elvis! I was starting to miss you! You haven't been visiting me!
I think that the easiest way to stack without getting bored is to get the government issue bullion coins as they are released... for me anyway, hehehe.

I always think Australia is an independent republic and then every so often I get reminded that it's still somehow a part of the British monarchy.
Cool coin though!

Historically part of the British Empire and now a member of the Commonwealth, Australia is a relatively prosperous independent country.
The Perth Mint makes high-quality coins!

Thank you, sis @elizabethbit! In the past, Australia had only one bullion coin, but after three bullion coins (Kookaburra, Koala, and the Kangaroo) they are introducing higher premium coins!

The Perth mint always seem to put out quality bullion, even as the simple design of the iconic Kangaroo. Your entire Australian collection is amazing Sis.

Always, with love 🤗 🌺 💖

Did you notice that since the introduction of the Kangaroo, there was a sudden growth of Perth Mint coins? I used to be able to fit all government-issued coins in one tube!

Have a lovely day, sis @kerrislravenhill.

underrated

So I just found out, the Kangaroo '21 is the cheapest 1 oz silver coin in shop where I bought most of the coins. So it seems the Kangaroo could be my choice for quantitative stacking ;)

Good choice! They are always lower priced than Eagles, more so last year. Another good choice is the Krugerrand. Look into it.

Thanks for tip. Krugerrand is on my wish list too. Actualy the 2020 is one dollar above kangaroo 2021. I will wait for the price of 2021 issue when available here.

Yes, it is waiting for the right time to purchase!
And it doesn't have to be the current year either.
But usually, the current year is cheapest, unless they are building in hype on the coin!

well, I had to put it on hold for now due to unforeseen circumstances.

But I am hoping to get back on track from the beginning of March

That is good, considering that there is a possibility that precious metal prices will rollback.
It has been unusually high these past months!
