“Edible Roses… (Nonsense en Regalia)” by Richard F. Yates

This post is about something. That something is an important thing. The reason that thing is important is because it is often neglected, forgotten, downplayed, or reviled---even though it surrounds us and defines us. That thing is a mystery! But that thing is also available to everyone who is willing to give it a try…

Today, for some reason, I uploaded a new NFT to MakersPlace. I haven’t done that in quite a while. Here’s the piece:

“Cursed Tapestry”

Here’s what I wrote about it on the MakersPlace site:

[Various pens and crayon on reclaimed cardboard with digital embellishments and cosmic horror... 2020.]

Woven of an unknown substance, the cursed tapestry was discovered in the bathroom of a small diner in Winlock, Washington, USA. The establishment mysteriously caught fire and burned to the ground within hours of the tapestry being removed to the University of Henpeck, in Henpeck, Washington, for examination. The fire destroyed the building, melted the pavement leading to up to old Highway 99, and somehow caused a playground full of children, over 50 yards away, to boil...killing four people and destroying one of the few remaining metal merry-go-rounds in the country.

Many of the people who have touched the tapestry have died in some strange, although skeptics would say "coincidental," fashion: a cow fell from a cliff-side onto a motorcyclist, a regular customer of the diner, crushing her and the vintage 1961 Harley; one person drowned...in a bowl of chowder; one was impaled by pipe when a basement water-heater exploded; and the anthropologist in charge of investigating the tapestry succumbed to an infection from a nasty paper-cut; and so on...

None of this tragedy has even mentioned the DREAMS... Even looking at the tapestry has caused hideous, vivid nightmares in dozens of assistants, waitresses, and a pair of truck drivers where were chugging coffee and maple donuts at the diner when the tapestry was removed.

AND NOW, the thing has started to glow...

It might take a while before the piece shows up in my MakersPlace Gallery, thanks to wacky gas prices and the horrors of clogged Etherium arteries…but I posted it, so there! (If it ever “publishes,” it will be a 1 of 1 for 0.0666 ETH. Have at it!)

Here’s a link to my MakersPlace Gallery. If the piece has FINALLY gone through, it will be there. If not…we’ll all have to wait….

After beginning the MakesPlace attempt, I oozed my way over to Rarible, where I created THIS little NFT based on a drawing I made about three years ago… (If I dig into OLDER works, like older-than-this morning, I have THOUSANDS of pieces that I could tokenize! In fact, if YOU are reading this, and I’m no longer around to say this, I’m saying it now!!!! MAKE SOME NFTS OUT OF MY OLD SHIT! There are so many drawings and paintings and collages sitting in boxes and notebooks and hard-drives, and I give the following people permission to make any cash they can from my artwork: Mariah (the boss of me, my wife, first dibs on cash that can be made from my residue); my daughters (Frankie Hanson and Elise Yates) have the right to manipulate, upload, fold, spindle, and mutilate any of my imagery---as long as you split the profits 45/45, and give 10 percent to your mom---OR, if she’s not around, either, give that extra ten percent to some charity that helps kids make art. Cool!; the fourth human who can make anything she wants from my junk (writing, painting, art, audio junk) is the granddaughter, Felicity…and any other kids who might have sprung into being since I departed, 1 to 1 to 1, equal shares, with ten percent going to a charity. Keep the arts alive, if at all possible…))

I kind of got off on a tangent there… Here’s the Rarible piece for today:

“Marc Drifts Over the Mountains”

Here’s my caption:

[Ink on paper with digital embellishments and color. 2017.]

Drifting... (Doesn't look all that comfortable, but if you haven't tried it, don't knock it!)

This is a 1 of 1 NFT available for any sucker to grab for only 0.07 ETH.

AND, because I’m loyal to my favorites, I also posted a new work to NFT Showroom, today, called “Phoenix Done in Digital,” although that one already sold! You have to be FAST to beat “Speedy C” (aka @clayboyn), who is the quickest and, I believe, the most THOROUGH collector on the Showroom…

I’d tell you how much it costs, but you’ll have to wait for C to decide if he want to sell it or not. Meanwhile, if you want to look at all the OTHER weird things that I have on NFT Showroom, most of them will TRY to make you laugh, visit here...

Okay… It’s almost time for bed (after one more episode of Buffy), and, you know, I gotta work tomorrow, so I’m gonna…blah blah blah… Later!
