Rudolf Löw, Fugue in e minor | Secrets of Organ Playing Contest, week 121

This is my entry for the Secrets of Organ Playing contest, week 121. I play Rudolf Löw's fugue in e minor and combine playing for the contest with publishing a new score.

Sometimes I think I have too many little projects running. I started working on this manuscripts, containing 12 compositions by the hand of Rudolf Löw, in december 2019. And now, almost one and a half year later, I am still not finished. There are so many interesting manuscripts out there, that I start working on the next before I've finished the last. That's partly because working on just one manuscript or one composer can be a bit boring. Sometimes it's also because the next composition in a manuscript is difficult or just not really interesting, so I start woring on something more easy or more interesting.

This fugue in e minor is the last of two compositions from this manuscript I still have to publish. According to the manuscript it can be played with or without the use of the pedals. Nevertheless, there are three spots where the composer indicates the use of pedals. I'm not sure whether the composer meant that those are the three spots one should use the pedals íf using them, or where one should use the pedals even it playing the rest of the piece with hands only. Fact is that using the pedals throughout the piece does not sound bad at all. So that is what I did in my performance.

The last fugue from this manuscript, in g minor, looks like a difficult to play piece. Could be a while before I publish that one.

The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sample set of the Holzey organ of St. Peter and Paul in Weissenau by Prospectum (http://www.prospectum.com/index.php?language=english&id1=2&id2=9).
