Piano Cover of Gyöngyhajú lány (The Girl With Pearl's Hair)
If I had a time machine, I would take you to 1969. To the last year of that revolutionary decade when social norms about music, clothing, formalities, drugs and sexuality drastically changed. When Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple started to dictate a new rhythm, harmonic and instrumental set of music. When my existence was not even planned in the mind of my parents until next ten years passed. I would take you to that year when Gábor Presser composed a worldwide famous song, Gyöngyhajú lány, for the band Omega.
Wait, what is that weird name? Maybe The Girl With Pearl's Hair sounds more familiar, although the original name in Hungarian is Gyöngyhajú lány. The song was so popular that it was recorded in many other languages. First of all, Omega, made its English version and German version of the song.
I knew of the existence of the Yugoslav version, as a cover by band Griva (Devojka biserne kose) but that is not all. The German band Scorpions covered the song and named it White Dove. Also, the song was covered in Czech Republic (Dívka s perlami ve vlasech), Bulgaria, Lithuania and Polonia (Dziewczyna o perłowych włosach) by band Kult.
The interesting part how do I know about that last version comes from gtg, when one day he mentioned it in AlspaceVR. I was hanging out there a bit with ewkaw when she helped me to learn how to move around. He told that they do sing in Polish, but the way how the singer pronounces the words sounds like Hungarian. It was so strange feeling for me to listen to it, when he shared it 3 days ago, as my mind wanted to hear the Hungarian words instead of the Polish ones. I immediately decided that I will play it at the piano, in my version.
So here it is, although without lyrics as I just play and don't sing. I play it in the way how I have written it down, so there are less repeated parts than in the original version. Of course, I will leave here the Hungarian and the English lyrics.

The song is certainly one of those that's playing in the processes of my mind without noticing. But once I started to listen to the notes some childhood memories started to come back. Just emotions though. Melancholy mostly. So I don't know when exactly or in what condition I listened to this. Beautiful piece. Now for the review.
It is a interesting take upon a famous piece. Undoubtedly, an arrangement made for social media space. Not including all the repetitions help people appreciate the complete harmonic and melodic sequences without getting lost in the performance of the song. I can see by the way of playing how you adapt your style to this kind of modern music. The swaying of the body is considerably increased in comparison, but it is controlled. I could assume classical is your main style of playing. This last point explains the extrapolation of prestanza in each one of your performances. That is a delight to the eyes and the confidence in playing the notes and keeping up regularity of dynamics and articulation is a blessing for the ears. Excellent performance.

So yes, I am classically trained, and the dynamics and articulation are the characteristic of performance that I pay a lot of attention to.

So cool to see how Hivefest (I suppose that was the event you referred to), virtual reality worlds drips down to the physical world and back to the digital world again through 3Speak and Hive. Kinda super connectivity at play where boundaries between digital, virtual and physical worlds are fading away.

Yes, correct, but it was a few day before Hivefest, I wanted to get used to it, so entered two-three times to AltspaceVR to "practice"
Hahahaha you cheated {LOL}... But how cool you practice, I didnt, first time ever in VR space, without gear (no glasses and controls), but I got exited and like to explore the possibilities to set up rooms, with entertainment up to and including live music streams including DJs and all. I think we shall create a world with lots of entertainment + areas for presentations and demonstrations like at Hivefest, but then every week one or two presentation + areas for HIVE based communities and projects (some are already planning something, like the NFTshowroom team. Anyways, Hivefest gave me a lot of positive enegry about HIVE. Hope it'll last long, the energy I mean... Also HIVE, but that is implicit to me being here in the community 🎶🙃
The "cheating" didn't help me a lot 🤦🏻♀️ as Friday afternoon I had lessons so couldn't attend the Hivefest, just went a bit in the evening and some people even could not see or hear me 🥺
The second day it was kicking me off the platform a lot of times, I don't know if that was because of my laptop or something else.
Edit: @edje , sorry I didn't finish my reply to your comment, some "physical" real life stuff had to be finished. So , I was excited as well for the Hivefest, my husband had to make an extra effort to make work one laptop that will run on Microsoft ( as we just use Linux in others) just to be able to install AltspaceVR. Finally, he watched the presentations on 3Speak and I was trying to be "present" in virtual reality. Not with lot os success.
About the optimism and positive energy in general and about Hive. I think it is essential! As what would be the point. I mean, just the faith in development and progress can motivate us to be present, create and interact even more.

Though Friday I was only able to walk the entrance floor/garden, and a little later was able to get beamed to the mainstage, the preso's I wasnt able to see and presenters I didnt hear. Saturday it worked out for me. AltspaceVR may still be too buggy. Though as mentioned in previous comment, I'll start exploring it for HIVE purposes. I know themarkymark has experimented with it and will involve him when I get to the point we can get somewhere. I may try first to build a club with a stage and streaming screens. Hopefully I'll be able to get some HIVE users like you to entertain the audience with music?

DJs are always the best option, don't think that my classical piano music can entertain in the way you maybe need?
Hm, new ideas can rise... We can think about some getting together the musicians project for that purposes?
Yea DJ's is one; Need to figure out what will work; Hang out sessions with DJs. Maybe a mix of live music & DJs. Open Mic like of events is something cool as well. Maybe the OpenMic/Live Music community/communities can setup some of those.
Live streams I like for sure. Someone told me last weekend he'd setup a room with the mainstage of Hivefest streamed onto a large screen in a small-ish room. He integrated with YouTube. Maybe AltspaceVR supportes other platform too. Would be so cool if we can get 3Speak live streaming onto such screen in the VR space. Next to that also prerecorded I suppose, so not make it all too time consuming and difficult to setup and manage events. In the end I think it all shall be a mixture of different things. But forst things firts, am now a bit dreaming without knowing what it means to try and create a world or even a small room that is attractive enough to host events. I hope in the last days of this year I have some time to look into it. Will let you know when I'm a few steps further than the adventure I'll embark on.
A small room, in the beginning, would be more achievable.

Nice! Someone once told me how some famous group from "the west" covered gyönygyhajú lány without giving Omega any royalties. But since the socialist system in Hungary wouldn't pay them anything anyway, other than their regular wages, there was little they could do. The only part of this story I didn't know was which band from "the west" it was. As it turns out, it could have been The Scorpions.

Aha, Kóbor, of course! Oh, another funny thing about this song: Do you know about misheard lyrics? Well, for me the kis kék elefánt part was such a case. I always thought this can't be right. Except the words are really quite clear, and I couldn't think it could be anything else. Still today I can't help thinking about die Sendung mit der Maus when I hear this part.

Oh wow! So the song has been used in a number of ways and times. I agree with Kóbor about being flattered that the song is so popular instead of making a big fuss. On the other hand, I enjoyed seeing that Presser Gábor sued West (and didn't accept his pittance of a settlement offer).
