Greetings to members of the Architecture+Desing community, I hope and wish that they will be in good health. On this occasion I will introduce you to the construction of a work that I have been carrying out in the Period March-April. I am as a resident engineer, overseeing the remodeling and adequacy of a house for the Monsignor, within an existing church in Miranda state. The project is managed and generated by the mayor's council, the Zamora Municipality of Miranda state.
Saludos a los miembros de la comunidad de Architecture+Desing, espero y deseo que se encuentren muy bien en salud. En esta oportunidad les presentaré la construcción de una obra que vengo llevando a cabo en el período Marzo-Abril. Me encuentro como ingeniero residente, supervisando la remodelación y adecuación de una casa para el Monseñor, dentro de una iglesia existente en el estado Miranda. El proyecto es administrado y generado por la alcaldía del Municipio Zamora del estado Miranda.
Publications will be written as in the workbook (Work Log). The content will be divided into several publications, because I am in the process of executing the work, so I will publish the progress of the project.
Las publicaciones estarán escritas como en el libro de obra (Bitácora de Trabajo). El contenido sera dividido en varias publicaciones, debido a que me encuentro en proceso de ejecución de la obra, por tal motivo les iré publicando los avances del proyecto.
The first thing that was done was the visit and architectural survey of the interior of the building, was carried out by the Architect responsible for the mayor of the municipality, through the municipal engineering office, this, with the aim of locating the spaces to be modified or transformed. Lo primero que se hizo fue la visita y levantamiento arquitectónico del interior de la edificación, fue realizado por la Arquitecto responsable de la alcaldía del municipio, a través de la oficina de ingeniería municipal, esto con el fin de ubicar los espacios que se van a modificar o transformar. After the visit and architectural survey was made, the objectives were defined and the work to be implemented was planned. After all the planning they contacted the Corporation of contractor companies that work for the mayor's office and the task was assigned to the head of the Corporation, he was in charge of assigning it to the company in which I find myself, this is where I appear, since the other engineers were supervising other works.
Luego de que se hizo la visita y el levantamiento arquitectónico, empezaron con la gestión del proyecto se definieron los objetivos y se planificaron los trabajos a ejecutar. Posterior a todo la planificación se comunicaron con la Corporación de empresas contratista que le trabajan a la alcaldía y se asigno la tarea a el jefe de la Corporación, este se encargo de asignárselo a la empresa en la que me encuentro, he aquí donde aparezco yo, ya que los demás ingenieros estaban supervisando otras obras.
The first thing I did was contact the Architect to inform me about the jobs that need to be executed. For this I went to the municipal engineering office (offices responsible for storing and managing all the documentary information of the works that are executed in the state, is an office per municipality), so that I would keep up with everything that is planned for this project. I explain above all that is wanted and facilitated me the planes of black water of the area around the church and the sketches that she made in the Architectural uprising of the building.
Lo primero que hice fue comunicarme con la Arquitecto para que me informara sobre los trabajos que se deben ejecutar. Para esto me dirigí a la oficina de ingeniería municipal (oficinas encargada de almacenar y gestionar toda la información documental de las obras que se ejecutan en el estado, es una oficina por municipio), para que me pusiera al día con todo lo que está planificado para este proyecto. Me explico sobre todo lo que se quiere y me facilitó el planos de aguas negras de la zona alrededor de la iglesia y los bosquejo que ella realizo en el levantamiento Arquitectónico de la edificación.

The works to be implemented according to the project are as follows:
- Construction of the main room
- Construction of the bathroom of the master bedroom
- Adequacy of the Sacristy
- Base construction for installation of a 1500lts capacity water tank.
- Ceiling construction.
- Construction of an access ramp for people in wheelchairs.
Las obras que se van a ejecutar de acuerdo al proyecto, son las siguientes:
- Construcción de la habitación principal
- Construcción del baño de la habitación principal
- Adecuación de la Sacristía
- Construcción de base para la instalación de un tanque de agua de 1500lts de capacidad.
- Construcción de cielo raso.
- Construcción de un rampa de acceso para personas en sillas de rueda.
To achieve these works, the following activities must be implemented:
1- Demolitions.
2- Haul and debris canister from demolitions.
3- Construction of block walls.
4- Door and window installations
5- Electrical installations.
6- Sanitary facilities.
7- Construction of wall coverings (frieze, plaster or pañete).
8- Lightweight slab construction for the tank base.
9- Construction of, floor coverings.
10- drywall ceiling construction.
11- Carpentry (furniture).
12- Painting and finishing.
13- Construction of Ramps for access.
Para lograr estas obras se deberán ejecutar las siguientes actividades:
1- Demoliciones.
2- Acarreo y bote de escombros provenientes de las demoliciones.
3- Construcción de paredes de bloque.
4- Instalaciones de puertas y ventanas
5- Instalaciones eléctricas.
6- Instalaciones sanitarias.
7- Construcción de recubrimientos en paredes (friso, revoque o pañete).
8- Construcción de losa aligerada para la base del tanque.
9- Construcción de revestimientos en pisos.
10- Construcción de cielo raso.
11- Carpintería (muebles).
12- Pintura y acabados.
13- Construcción de Rampas para accesos.

5 de Marzo
On Friday, March 5, 2021, work began on the remodeling and adequacy of the area intended for the work. Together with the Father in charge of the church, the indications corresponding to the project were verified.
El viernes 5 de Marzo del 2021 se iniciaron los trabajos de remodelación y adecuación del área destinada para la obra. Junto al Padre encargado de la iglesia, se verificaron las indicaciones correspondientes al proyecto.
9:40 am Work on block wall demolition was initiated. The work began with the framing of the door made by the master of work, then the workers began with the demolition, using chisel and short-handled mandarins. Subsequently it was continued with the demolition of flooring in the kitchen area, since since it did not have the internal plans of the church, it had to be located and know the direction and dimensions of the discharge pipes, since the Architect needed to know if we could connect the pipes of the bathroom to the main one that joined with the sanitary points of the kitchen , needed to check if a 4-inch tube passed that would allow connection with the discharge of the bathroom from the room, for that, it was demolished around the center floor of the kitchen until locate the tube.
9:40 am se iniciaron los trabajos correspondiente a la demolición de pared de bloque. El trabajo comenzó con la enmarcación de la puerta realizada por el maestro de obra, luego los obreros comenzaran con la demolición, utilizando cincel y mandarrias de mango corto. Posteriormente se continuo con la demolición de piso en el área de la cocina, ya que al no contar con los planos internos de la iglesia, se debía ubicar y conocer la dirección y dimensiones de los tubos de descarga, ya que la Arquitecto necesitaba conocer si podíamos conectar las tuberías del baño al tuvo principal que se unía con los puntos sanitarios de la cocina, necesitaba verificar si pasaba un tubo de 4 pulgadas que permitiera la conexión con la descarga del baño de la habitación, para eso, se demolió alrededor del centro piso de la cocina hasta ubicar el tubo.

12:00pm. inicia la hora de almuerzo, hasta ahora se logro demoler 10cm de profundidad por un área de 13cm2 , correspondiente a dos cerámica de terracota, lugar donde se ubica el centro piso, se demoro la demolición ya que nos encontramos con un concreto de losa muy resistente al trabajo de demolición manual, es decir, utilizando mandarria de mango corto y cincel. Por tal motivo, solicite un martillo eléctrico demoledor (rotomartillo o martillo rotopercutor) para acelerar el trabajo de demolición. Además se solicita el material para la construcción de los muros de mampostería, bloque, polvillo, cemento. y herramientas (pala y carretilla).

Se inicio el trabajo con el equipo demoledor y desde el primer momento se noto que la maquina venía con un problema, el cincel del equipo se salía del mecanismo, además no tenía potencia, sin embargo no podían cambiarlo porque no había disponibilidad de otro equipo, por lo que lo tuve que utilizar con esos problemas.

El lunes 8 de Marzo del 2021 correspondió a una semana de cuarentena radical controlada, es decir, el horario de trabajo es hasta las 12:00 del medio día.

- 300 blocks of Number 12 clay.
- 1.50 m3 of linked dust.
- 8 portland bags of cement.
- 1 drum of 200 lts of water (requested for serious water supply problems in the country).

El 8 de marzo no se logro hacer mucho, ya que se empezó a trabajar a las 9:00 am, por los graves problemas que existen con el transporte vehicular, actualmente no hay combustible en el país, por lo que los transportistas y todos los que tengan vehículos deben hacer grandes colas de hasta 2 días, para recibir una cierta cantidad de combustible para toda la semana, esto ocasiona que las personas tengan que llegar caminando a los trabajos, o a veces, hasta no asistir. Además por ser semana radical se trabajó hasta las 12:00 del medio día. No llegaron los materiales y herramientas solicitados (problemas de combustible) por lo que no se pudo iniciar con el levantamiento de los muros.

In short, the most challenging aspect of my technical responsibilities is the overall control of the work, that is, to meet the planned objectives of the project, controlling and managing the inputs of the work (materials, equipment, labor) and achieving the expected yields.
En resumen, el aspecto más desafiante de mis responsabilidades técnicas es el control en general de la obra, es decir, cumplir con los objetivos planificados del proyecto, controlando y administrando los insumos de la obra (materiales, equipos, mano de obra) y logrando los rendimientos esperados.
As a resident engineer, I am living as it becomes important to differentiate what activities take priority on the jobsite, and to solve problems that are not foreseen in the project, demonstrating authority and leadership, without displeasing workers, but achieving the expected returns. All this to achieve what is planned in the administrative area.
Como ingeniero residente, estoy viviendo como se vuelve importante diferenciar cuáles son las actividades que tienen prioridad en la obra, y dar solución a los problemas que no están previstos en el proyecto, demostrando la autoridad y liderazgo sin disgustar o molestar a los trabajadores pero logrando los rendimientos esperados. Todo esto para lograr cumplir lo que en el área administrativa se proyecta.
As a resident, understanding that the biggest problems we have in the work, generate it from the office, want to have yields met, that with these problems become very difficult to comply, in addition, are projected, quantities of works that are often modified, by problems or corrections, that are generated in the work.
Ahora que estoy como residente, entendiendo porque la variedad o mayores problemas que tenemos en la obra, se lo generan desde la oficina, quieren que se cumplan unos rendimientos, que con estos problemas se hacen muy complicado cumplir, además, se proyectan cantidades de obras que se cabían a menudos por problemas o correcciones que se generan en la obra.
