The best way to buy CUB using HIVE tokens: DEC / Il miglior modo per comprare CUB utilizzando i token HIVE: DEC (ENG/ITA)

La versione in italiano è subito dopo la versione in inglese - The Italian version is immediately after the English version

I started my adventure in the world of decentralised finance thanks to the Leofinance community project called CubFinance (https://cubdefi.com/).
I use the Farm DEC-BUSD LP and I have some CUB tokens (staked) in the DENS section of CubFinance.
My goal is to have at least 100 CUB to put in the DENS section and to reach my goal I will convert a part of the HIVE I earn from my blogging activity on Hive.

I have often received the following question on Discord:
What is the best way to buy CUB tokens without using an Exchange external to Hive?.
In this post I want to answer this very question by considering the purchase of CUB tokens from HIVE tokens and without using exchanges external to Hive such as Binance for example.
Note: it is possible to buy CUB tokens without using external exchanges but to use the CubFinance platform you need a small amount of BNB tokens.

The HIVE->CUB conversion path to follow is not linear because there are choices to be made.
In order to buy CUB tokens from a certain amount of HIVE tokens, the first step is to convert HIVE tokens to SWAP.HIVE tokens.
Two sites can be used to do this conversion:

This is the first choice to make and is an easy choice to make.
It is better to use LeoDex because it has a deposit commission of 0.25% while HiveEngine has a higher deposit commission of 1%.
In the next image you can see an example of converting 100 HIVE to SWAP.HIVE.

image.png

Once you have obtained the SWAP.HIVE tokens you have a second choice to make.
From the LeoDex marketplace, you must choose whether to buy LEO tokens or DEC tokens.
In fact for both tokens (LEO and DEC) there is a BEP-20 version: BLeo and DEC.
LEO and DEC can be exchanged from the Trade->Exchange section of CubFinance for CUB tokens.

image.png

To convert LEO tokens to bLEO tokens you need to use: https://wleo.io/bsc and the conversion cost is 1 LEO.

image.png

To convert DEC tokens to the BEP20 (BSC) version you need to:

In this case there are no conversion costs.

image.png

As you can see from the calculations in the following image, it is clear that to buy CUB tokens from HIVE tokens it is cheaper to choose to buy and use DEC tokens.

image.png

In fact with 100 HIVE I get:

  • 14.7395 CUB if I choose the following path: HIVE->SWAP.HIVE->LEO->bLEO->CUB
  • 15.0506 CUB if I choose the path: HIVE->SWAP.HIVE->DEC->DEC(BEP-20)->CUB

image.png

The percentage difference compared to a direct (no fee) conversion of 100 HIVE -> CUB using LEO tokens is -4.31%.

image.png

The percentage difference compared to a direct (no fee) conversion of 100 HIVE -> CUB using DEC tokens is -2.29%.

image.png

Conclusion

When converting my SWAP.HIVE tokens to CUB tokens I will use the conversion path
HIVE->SWAP.HIVE->DEC->DEC(BEP-20)->CUB.

image.png

I hope this post of mine is useful and in the coming days I will write a step by step guide to show how to perform all the above steps.

Important note

I am not a financial advisor and if you decide to invest on Cub Finance or any other DEFI platform you do so by your own choice and at your own risk.

My advice is to always invest only what you can afford to lose with a light heart.

HIVE->SWAP.HIVE->DEC->DEC(BEP-20)->CUB.

image.png

Great guide to put together. I hope others see it and follow the steps. It is not easy but it is possible.

Yea I like that there an alternative to converting LEO and it might be more worth it when its smaller amounts of token. But this makes it difficult to figure out which pool is the best because the CUB Den is probably a risky investment and bLEO/BNB is safer. Maybe a DEC/CUB might be a good LP position too.

It is not easy but it is possible.

Yes it's true it's not very easy, there are several steps to perform to use CubFinance starting from HIVE to Cub.
In the next days I will try to write a step by step guide trying to put myself in the shoes of a new user.
Thanks a lot @taskmaster4450le for your comment and support

THANK YOU! Didn't know that was possible, very useful article! Specially for me who earns some DEC daily and would like to put it to work!

This is a very nice guide. I didn't realize that the DEC conversion had zero costs so I guess the Splinterlands team is covering the cost. So in your opinion, it is better to convert LEO to HIVE and then HIVE to DEC in most cases? I guess I'll have to look more into getting some DEC for this.

I plan to bookmark this for the future and do some own math when I need to convert.

Thanks I'm glad you liked my guide :)

Yes it is better and it is especially so when the amount of LEOs you want to use to buy CUBs is small because the fee of 1 LEO affects more in percentage.

I was planning to invest in increments of around 50 LEO or 100 LEO at a time. Basically just one or two transactions to save on the costs. I might play around and see how things go and split some into DEC depending on what happens.

Thanks a lot for your tutorial. Clear and straightforward explanation as always :)

The outcome also depends on:

  • market depth
  • how much you convert
  • what you need in the end

1 $LEO wrapping fee is a bit too much in my opinion and this is the main reason why DEC way is cheaper.

I'll try the DEC way one of these days when I accumulate enough liquid Hive-Engine tokens.

Yes exactly all three factors you listed are to be considered.
The smaller the amount of LEOs you want to use to buy CUBs, the more the fee of 1 LEO impacts.

Thanks a lot @ervin-lemark also for tipu :)
Have a nice day
